Excluding points to be earned in Track and Field, these were the top six schools in the Directors Cup standings after the winter season, showing point totals and teams that are in NCAA Tournaments this spring (unfortunately, as national champs in women’s golf and runners up in rowing, Stanford seems poised to overtake Michigan for first in the final standings)

Michigan (1,000.25) teams in NCAA Tournaments this spring (7): Baseball, Softball (lost in Regional), Women’s Lacrosse (beat Notre Dame; lost in second round), Men’s Tennis (lost to Ohio State in quarterfinals), Women’s Tennis (lost to Texas in second round), Women’s Golf (20th), Rowing (10th)

Stanford (851.25) teams in NCAA Tournaments this spring (8): Baseball (4th in NCAA RPI), Softball (lost in Super Regional), Women’s Lacrosse (lost in opening round), Men’s Tennis (lost in third round), Women’s Tennis (lost in third round), Men’s Golf (18th), Women’s Golf (National Champs), Rowing (2nd to Texas, based on finish in eights, but tied in points)

Stanford is a regional host in the NCAA baseball tournament. They have 15 entries in the NCAA Track and Field Championships.

Also look for Texas to make a substantial leap in the final Directors Cup standings. Their women are national champs in tennis and rowing. Their softball team is in the College World Series. Their baseball team is a regional host in the NCAA tournament. They have the number one women’s track and field team in the country. In the NCAA Track and Field Championships, Texas has 25 entries (14 women and 11 men). 

Michigan has only nine entries (four men and five women) in the NCAA Track and Field Championships.

If you count men's and women's sports as different sports, there are 28 Big Ten sports. Michigan won championships in 10 of them this school year. We won championships in more than a third of all sports.

Michigan State won championships in zero sports.
