Michigan basketball to watch while treadmilling it

Submitted by victors2000 on March 14th, 2020 at 11:14 AM

Lately, I've been watching the Men's basketball while using the treadmill and was really looking forward to amping up the time and miles and pace now that the most wonderful time of the year is upon us, but then SARS-CoV-2 happened, aargh! *shakes fist at nothing in particular*

So now I've decided to hit the treadmill and watch Michigan games of 'yore' that I can find on Youtube. Today I'm going to watch the 1992 semi-final against Cincinatti, just because it happened to populate on the YouTube page. I wouldn't have thought of it, really, but it's the kind of game that I'm looking for, one that I barely remember that should be interesting. I Thought I'd ask my MgoBlog brothers and sisters what games they remember as being real good that most of us would react to as, 'Oh, that's a good one!'. Don't worry about backlash 'Oh everybody remembers that one!'; honestly, I'm just lazy and don't want to think about it, lol. Besides, it will give us a chance to be nostalgic.

Michigan Loyola Marymount 1990.  Michigan was the defending national champ and ran into LMU playing out of their minds after the death of Hank Gathers.  M lost 149-115 but it was one of the most entertaining games I’ve ever witnessed.  Full game is on YouTube.

I've never watched this game before.  I think I will soon.  Bringing it up now for a minute...holy hell the 3 pt line is soooo close.

Ok I've watched 5+ minutes now.  Good lord this is piss poor coaching by Fisher.  They didn't get out and guard the 3 for shit.  Also piss poor rebounding.  They played like they would just over athlete them.  Which they probably did but the little things weren't being done.

1989 UM vs UNC - Sweet Sixteen.  Anyone who remembers getting bounced by UNC in the 1987 and 1988 tournament will remember that as an especially sweet victory.

God, I totally forgot Terry Mills ran over a dude on the inbounds pass with :01 left and probably should have been called for a foul.

That Illinois team was the first "positionless" basketball team I'd ever seen and would see for many years afterwards. It seemed like the whole team was 6'6" athletes who could run.

I was thinking it would be clever for one of the networks to broadcast a tournament from the last maybe 10-20 years in its entirety. Say 2004 or something - one still somewhat recent but that most fans don't remember. Just put that on TV and let people have fun if they want something to watch

Back from Treadmillin' the Cincinatti game. Hard to believe those guys were freshman; heck, Chris looked like a senior already, lol. Seeing Juwan play really put a spin on things; I had to laugh when Juwan picked up a foul and made a face; it's the same one we'd seen on occasion during his freshman year as a coach, lol! Some things never change.

There's some great suggestions here! Lookin' forward to seeing some more!

Michigan v. Kentucky 2014.  Came out on the wrong end but oh man is that high level stuff.  From the play to the coaching to the announcing.  Outright classic.

(Bonus!  If you are a glutton for being pissed off but enjoying the hell out of how you got there, CBS is playing last years BIG final in its entirety at 3:30.  That was a fantastic game as well).

Syracuse (2013)

Kansas (2013)

Those are two of the best collegiate basketball games I have seen, regardless of the fact that Michigan was playing. Actually, just watch the entirety of that year’s tournament with the exception of the last game. By the way, Trey blocked that shot.
