Nah, it's more like your boss(es) interviewing your replacement candidates, in the open conference room, while you're still working at your nearby office desk.

The thing to be doing while this is going on is to re-read your contract carefully and then calculate exactly how much of a check you're due once they have you clean out your desk.

Fun times ;-)

Yeah, I don't feel too bad for Diaz. He's getting an $8 million buyout. I think how this search went down should more impact how future coaching candidates view the circus at Miami.

This has been quite the coaching carousel this offseason: USC, LSU, ND, Florida, Oklahoma, Miami, Washington, Oregon, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Washington State, Duke, TCU, Texas Tech. And not a single Big Ten job opened to date. If you exclude the Big Ten, that is 25% of all the other Power 5 jobs.

Tell me, tell me where [our program's] going
I don't know where [we've] been [with all these losses]
Tell me, tell me, won't you tell me
And then tell me again
My [defensive scheme] is breaking, my [alumni's hearts'] aching
And I don't know where to go
So tell me, tell me, won't you tell me
I've just got to know

[Mario[ Cristibol
There's so many things I need to know
Like, can you beat Florida State and Florida?

Oregon has more money than Miami.  How does Oregon not retain him?

Also, same with ND.  ND has more cash than LSU.  If they wanted Brian Kelly to stay, he would have.  How does LSU snatch him from ND?

Kelly to LSU is still a weird one to me, but I don’t get why people are so concentrated on the salaries. These new contracts are all 6, 7, 8 million a year. The ability to build a dynasty in a recruiting hotbed is the focus.

It is an interesting development, though, seeing coaches go from one top team to another. Feels like an unprecedented time.

He'll get them righted. And when that happens expect ground to get broken on a stadium either on campus or in the city.

The Orange Bowl and the Miami energy was their 12th man for years.

The Stadium in Miami Gardens has failed that program.

We all saw the documentaries. When that program was right, the Dolphins took a back seat to the college guys back in the 80s and 90s.  They are Miami's team.

That whole dynamic is also key to their recruiting.

They'll be back. Especially with two relative light weights installed at Florida and FSU.

This is truly a make or break hire for them at this point IMO. I think Richt would have been great at solidifying their program but unfortunately had to retire after only 3 years. Manny Diaz was never the solution - though I’ve never thought much of him since his stint at Texas as DC.

Cristobal has it all - the name, school affiliation, knows the area well, and so much more. If he can start to rebuild the state of Miami (the unofficial name of their recruiting pipeline), he can basically get 9-10+ wins annually while also somewhat hurting the recruiting base of those SEC schools a little bit.

At the end of the day though, Miami needs a real stadium in or near Coral Gables to get back to true relevance. The demolition of the OB for that eyesore Marlins stadium was truly awful.

Rumor in Eugene was that his team knew he was leaving well before their game against Utah and so they came out flat.

Can we take a moment, and look past wins and losses and realize how damn lucky we are to have a coach with the character that he has still roaming our sidelines?  With all of the undue bs that Harbs had to endure over the past few years, being at an all time high this past off season, yet, he came back with a m'f'ing vengeance!!

How easy it could have been to go ahead and jump to the NFL as all the rumors stated, or to leave to another program when his salary was being cut and stipulations were made.

But no!  Whether due to his sense of competition, his love for the University, or his just plain love for the kids he was coaching and wasn't going to leave them behind.  We got m'therf'ckin' lucky!

Let the coaching carousel continue out there! We've got our guy.  Go Blue!
