MGoBlog Camping Trip... Good idea?

Submitted by Dennis on
I'm not sure if this has happened before, but I was wondering if there would be any interest in the MGoBlog community going on a group camping trip in Northern Michigan or something. It would be cool to mix alumni and non-alumni fans alike and discuss things like football, try Michigan breweries, and just hang out. Reserving cabins up north is very affordable, especially with a large group. We could even make t-shirts with our avatars and associated screennames. Thoughts? I'll help organize if there's interest.

Ok, this thread is going off the rails. Sorry Dennis.

Here's the thing: Getting together with Mgotypes seems fun. We interact a lot online. It is logical to want to get together in person.

There are two problems: One, the proposal includes a lot of detail that lends itself to being taken unseriously late on a Saturday night. Two, it's hard to get a lot of people with various different lives to coordinate something like this. I have a hard enough time just getting together with my mom and two sisters and families more than once every few years.

There is a solution, of course: Mgoblog has hosted some pregame get-togethers. I don't know how well those are attended, but it seems like the best combination of location and timing (pregame in A2 when we're all thinking football). And still guys like me will never make it.

I’ll go! But you should know, my reason for going will be to make everyone as uncomfortable as possible!! Including talking politics and disagreeing just to disagree, nude oil wrestling, tree humping and penis measuring!! I will only bring my charming personality a pad of paper, pencil, video camera and a bag of dog poop!

I actuallly love the T-shirt idea.  Not for a camping trip, but if there were ever a huge MGo gathering event, that would be fun as hell to have everyone wear their avatar and username instead of the old "Hello my name is..." nametag.

Every camper gets a bag of marshmallows and a bag of rocks. If someone says something you like, toss em a 'mallow. If someone says something you disagree with, the bag of rocks should come in handy
