Meta: What happened to our insiders?

Submitted by NashvilleBLUE on November 12th, 2021 at 1:44 PM

Back when I joined the blog in 2016 I came here in search of inside info for the quarterback race. There was so much good info that I stuck around and I’ve been here ever sense.

I’ve noticed that this year especially, and starting last year to a certain degree, the main insiders that genuinely have good reliable info have either completely stopped posting or post very infrequently.

So I guess what I’m asking is, does anyone have any inside info on the inside info providers?

An example of some excellent info was given on 9/2 by ghostofJermaineGonzalez:

When the players huddle up on D its Ross and Hutch who are the leaders, they seem to be taking their roles very serious, and are constantly coaching up the backups.

I have not seen Dax play anything other than S

Michigan hoping to run for 300+ yards Saturday

EALL is a monster

They are rotating the entire DL after 2 plays, hard to tell who is legit on the inside

Special Teams will be a strong suit for Michigan all season

Don't be surprised if you see JJ and DE in the end zone by NIU game latest

Jake Butt hanging around schem, Yes please!

Hart is the players favorite, I could see Gattis not being here next year

Cheers”

I’ve checked weekly since then craving that next hit and there’s nothing.

I have to admit, I am a bit of an insider.

Here's what I know so far:
- Michigan is laser focused on Penn State.
- Their game plan is to win the game, using a combo of running + passing, and occasional punting
- They have been blocked from wearing Maize

UMbig11 was absolutely an insider, yet I recall him catching a lot of grief from this board when his reads didn't always pan out. At least he got a classy goodbye from many when he left for Rivals.

The problem with "inside information" is it comes from Schem where most of the sources see things through maize and blue colored beer goggles. Hypothetically, If someone attended a practice they might be absolutely be sure we were going to start JJ, run an awesome fake punt,  throw on every 1st down etc. Then in the heat of battle things change and all of that color could prove false.

I am obviously not an insider, but heard from a friend of a friend of a friend that our Offensive braintrust was incredibly confident in the game plan going into East Lansing. We scored 37, leaving probable scores from the Corum drop, overthrows and multiple uncalled PI's on the board, so I'd say that color was accurate; yet had State played better D would my intel be lies?

that being said it would be great if someone knew about the state of our various injuries. But in 17 hours we'll all know.

It was way funnier when my buddies explained it to me (and obviously this was many years ago) but basically:

They had one system set up where players could fill giant gatorade jugs with water for football and other summer/fall sport practices. Players were paid based on the amount of filled jugs they reported. Star players were paid a higher rate per jug. There was basically no oversight on the reported numbers as long as it was reasonable and whether these jugs were actually filled by players or inevitably student managers didn't matter. Also, the amount of jugs actually filled vs what was reported was laughable. They had plenty of other similar systems to funnel cash disingenuously portrayed as student 'jobs'.

Been here since like 08/09. I miss tom VH and aqua man. Tom vh recruiting was top notch, if you just joined in 2016 then you didn’t even see mgoblog in its hay day
