META: Drupal 10
[SETH NOTE: Had a bunch of backlogged updates that were already QA'd that were meant to go out during the bye week until [gestures at all of it], the biggest being the move to Drupal 10 from Drupal 8. Got to a spot where we had to push out an update and had the choice between the whole thing or not.
99.9% of issues people are having are with caching. So...
- How to clear cache on Chrome
- How to clear cache on Safari
- How to clear cache on Firefox mobile
- What to do if you're using Edge
If you're still having any issues after doing that please post them below. Devs are monitoring this thread.]
I didn’t see a Meta yet for the new update this morning. I believe I read it’s Drupal 10
Feel free to pin this and/or move it.
- the navigation bar (sandwich and login drop downs) doesn’t work on IPhone 11 with a Firefox browser.

None of it works in android (pixel 7 pro) on any browser
November 20th, 2023 at 4:27 PM ^
Could be a compatibility issue that's specific to Pixel phones. I'm using Chrome on a Samsung Galaxy and and it works just fine for me.
November 20th, 2023 at 5:16 PM ^
No issues with my Pixel 7 Pro running chrome. Could be some other variable or just two hours have passed and the B1G changed their mind.

I can't comment (no comment box appears) when on a laptop using chrome.
Hence, I can only reply to existing comments.

Nor with Safari

Works for me just fine
November 20th, 2023 at 3:09 PM ^
Same, not working for me on Chrome/Pixel
November 20th, 2023 at 3:03 PM ^
Using Chrome on a Macbook Pro, it bumps you back to the top of the page when you try to thumbs up or thumbs down an OP or a response.

What a brilliant idea to gain upvotes as everyone will try it when they read this lol... I did!
November 20th, 2023 at 3:22 PM ^
Haha that would be a baller move, but you have vastly overestimated my ability to think a step ahead. I'm more of a checkers than a chess guy.
November 20th, 2023 at 3:51 PM ^
Same issue on Iphone 13
November 20th, 2023 at 4:22 PM ^
Can you try clearing your cache and see if that's persisting?
November 20th, 2023 at 4:28 PM ^
The up and down votes (mobile, IPhone11, Firefox) were not a problem for me but now they are.
November 20th, 2023 at 4:40 PM ^
Seth, I cleared my cache and shut the browser completely down. Once reopened, it works fine now!
November 20th, 2023 at 5:49 PM ^
Cache clear worked on my iPad with Safari.
it will be good to put that issue behind.
November 20th, 2023 at 7:09 PM ^
I think if I clear my cache it will fuck up my Wordle stats. That's a non-starter!

I'm betting the Drupal upgrade had changes in CSS/JS that broke things. Lucky the board is bookmarked for me
November 20th, 2023 at 3:09 PM ^
Navigation bar was a surprise. We'll get a fix out for that soon.
November 20th, 2023 at 3:10 PM ^
Thank you Seth, we all definitely need our fix today
November 20th, 2023 at 3:09 PM ^
Yep, the o'l Microsoft strategy without testing or proof of concept... Push it through and let the users point out the flaws. I ran it on multiple browsers and the flaws are the same. I'm OK with this, but we are 5 days out form the Big One. Timing sucks ass.
November 20th, 2023 at 4:11 PM ^
There's nothing I hate more when people make wrong, negative assumptions. I can't let myself get stomping mad about it right now because this week was already crunched before I had to deal with this shit, so I'm going to chop the first digit off your points total to make myself feel better and get back to work.
November 20th, 2023 at 4:50 PM ^
That's fine, but it was all tongue & cheek about the software itself (META), I was assuming it was the outsource company and not you or MGoBlog as I have to deal with this all the time from a Corporate upgrade standpoint. I apologize and no offense to anyone here trying to do an improvement upgrade and that was sent before your troubleshooting instructions in the edit note of the thread. I can go back to being a lurker. Peace brother!
November 20th, 2023 at 4:55 PM ^
Bye the deer hunter! Good luck hunting.
November 20th, 2023 at 10:36 PM ^
I'm hyper sensitive when people criticize our outsourced company. Our devs are as crucial to us as any writer, and I get really upset when it sounds like readers are knocking them, because there probably isn't another company in the world who could do what they do for us. I don't know where we'd be without them. Today's issues were mostly from the server company (Nexcess). Human Element were the team that got it fixed. Sorry I got so furious, but they were furiously working on all of these issues all day today and I was just passing them along. The cache scrub fix? They figured that out in minutes.
November 20th, 2023 at 3:17 PM ^
As seems to be typical with these updates, the site is broken by default. It is incumbent on every user to tell every browser from which they access to the site to not load anything from cache.
I'm pretty sure that this could be addressed in one place, the web server, instead of many tens of thousands (every browser used by every user).
November 20th, 2023 at 3:18 PM ^
Every time I upvote on my iPhone, it just takes me to the top.
November 20th, 2023 at 3:36 PM ^
Downvotes don’t do that it appears. :)
November 20th, 2023 at 3:20 PM ^
DruPaul, you say?
November 20th, 2023 at 3:29 PM ^
Using safari on iOS and everything is fast and working as expected!
November 20th, 2023 at 3:50 PM ^
I can't upvote or downvote anyone. If I click on the thumbs up, the page automatically scrolls up to the top of the page.
November 20th, 2023 at 4:49 PM ^
clear cache.
November 20th, 2023 at 4:53 PM ^
I just upvoted you and had no problem. (Using chrome on a moto android)
Only glitch I've had so far was when I tried a media embed and had the same problem with it that's been around for weeks.

While adding a comment or editing an existing comment if I select a word my keyboard goes away. Unable to copy, paste, edit, or capitalize.
November 20th, 2023 at 3:50 PM ^
Forgive my ignorance, but what actually changed? The site looks exactly like it did yesterday to me. Was this just something that affected the backend?
November 20th, 2023 at 3:56 PM ^
Should be backend stuff for the most part. Seth mentioned in another comment that the site was "fast" so I take that to mean improvements in how data is displayed and loads.
November 20th, 2023 at 4:26 PM ^
Had a bunch of updates all backing up that were supposed to go out during the bye week until all hell broke loose with Michigan, and then we hoped to save it to the end of the season until something had to go right away. So it was between rolling out this big update that we had been QAing for months or scrapping all that. Hit a snag this morning with the server and getting some issues that weren't in the staging site.
November 20th, 2023 at 4:04 PM ^
More data points: zero issues noted with Android on tablets or phones using Firefox browser. Also, Windows 10/11 - zero issues.
November 20th, 2023 at 4:04 PM ^
The only problem I care about is Drupal's idiotic refusal to let me delete images from the collection I've uploaded over the years, which is large enough that I'm basically unable to post any new images.
Whenever I try to delete an image, I get this message:
"(image name).jpg is in use by another application."
The update did not change this.
I've been a pretty heavy user of the internet since the dial-up days, and there isn't a single website or blog or social media platform I've ever posted on that presents this ridiculous problem.
November 20th, 2023 at 4:16 PM ^
I thought we expanded the space each user gets. Sorry, yours is a thing that affects only a small # of users so it's not high on the priority tree.
November 20th, 2023 at 6:43 PM ^
I get that I'm not a typical user, and I'm not losing any sleep over it.
It's irritating, but also mystifying: I wish Drupal would explain what "in use by another application" means...
November 20th, 2023 at 8:01 PM ^
If you can find every place you've posted that image on MGo, and then delete it from those posts, then you can delete it from your MGo allotment. It's a pain but that's the only way I've found.
You know that you can copy and paste images/gifs from the web into the comments box, right?
November 20th, 2023 at 4:17 PM ^
My image uploads disappear over time. You must upload a lot of images.
November 20th, 2023 at 4:08 PM ^
I keep posting jokes and no one is laughing or upvoting. Must be a glitch...
November 20th, 2023 at 4:52 PM ^
Could not replicate.
November 20th, 2023 at 5:25 PM ^
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHJAH
November 20th, 2023 at 4:09 PM ^
I could be wrong, but I also feel like the task bar was always visible as you scrolled through the comments. I now have to scroll back to the top to get to the homepage or other tasks.
EDIT: I am also unable to access the menu bar on my iPhone 13.
EDIT EDIT: At other's suggestions, I cleared my history and reloaded. Works great! Seems to be much faster on my mobile.
November 20th, 2023 at 4:39 PM ^
Same. I thought there was always at least an "MgoBlog" button visible at the top of the page as you scrolled down.
I am able to access the site via iPhone 11 max pro safari, 16.6.1. No problems there.
November 20th, 2023 at 9:43 PM ^
Same with me regarding the button to go back to the home page instead of having to scroll back up yourself..was easy to just hit that on the top right and go right back home
November 20th, 2023 at 4:12 PM ^
I weirdly haven't had any major issues with the site on the web or mobile, but sounds like there are some issues with others.
I don't quite get needing to push this update out unless it's a performance concern with the game coming up, but I sort of doubt that the traffic will be significantly different than in seasons past. I do think people complaining about how this is going to hamstring the site overall are being a bit dramatic.
