Please edit to Mertz.

Name 100% doesn’t check out.

I thought Merton Hanks tested positive.
October 27th, 2020 at 12:56 PM ^
Merton Hanks?
EDIT: This response will make no sense if OP title is corrected to Mertz.
October 27th, 2020 at 1:00 PM ^
Fantastic! Hanks has a long neck.
October 27th, 2020 at 1:06 PM ^
I remember him doing that dance. I’m old.
October 27th, 2020 at 2:10 PM ^
OLD?
Ethel Mertz is celebrating her 107th birthday year--And, in 1913 Michigan only gave up 21 points the entire season.
Way too more than usual but it was Germany Schultz's first year as an assistant and he spent most of the year teaching the defensive linemen to "stand up" as he did the year before when he invented the Linebacker position....
You can look it up.

Who the fck is Merton?
October 27th, 2020 at 2:11 PM ^
Frankenstein combo of Mertz and Milton. Incredible player.
October 27th, 2020 at 12:59 PM ^
I believe that puts him at 21 days away from football from his first test? So he'd miss the Michigan game.
Rumors are also swirling that thier QB3, Chase Wolf, also has tested positive once. His second test is waiting confirmation.
If Chase is also out then QB 4 would be coming to Ann Arbor.

Just posted this in the other thread as well. According to the 247 article linked there, Mertz may qualify to play against UM depending on when the first positive test was administered:
That is where the question of when the positive test was administered becomes important. Wisconsin’s November 14 game against Michigan could be Mertz’s first game back, depending on when the test was administered.

Wisconsin’s November 14 game against Michigan could be Mertz’s first game back, depending on when the test was administered.
If that's the case, then it's a mathematical certainty that he'll play his first game back against us.
What's a near-mathematical certainty is that he'll show literally zero signs of any rust, and will look like a combination of Tom Brady and Trevor Lawrence and Pat Mahomes. Because we're Michigan.
October 27th, 2020 at 1:53 PM ^
That's where I'm at with this too, bud.
October 27th, 2020 at 2:02 PM ^
Yes, he would technically be able to return if they count Saturday (the day he tested positive) as Day 1. That would put Day 21 at the Friday before the Michigan game.
I'm pretty sure the length of days he's supposed to sit were decided for heart monitoring purposes so I don't think he's allowed to practice or do anything physical (and if he is, wtf is the point?).
I can't imagine they'd put him out there without practicing for three full weeks, but yeah, knowing Michigan's luck they'll put him out there and he'll beTom Brady.

4th string is a former walk on Vanden Boom. He seems not terrible from the bits I've read but definitely not Coan or Mertz level.
October 27th, 2020 at 12:59 PM ^
Read that as Milton and absolutely shit myself.
October 27th, 2020 at 12:59 PM ^
Is Merton the 5th string QB?
October 27th, 2020 at 12:59 PM ^
Oh no, not Thomas Merton! At least he'll have time to contemplate while he quarantines.
October 27th, 2020 at 1:00 PM ^
Sucks for CFB in general. Hope the UW team adjusts accordingly.
2020.
October 27th, 2020 at 1:00 PM ^
This is a bad post on many levels.
October 27th, 2020 at 1:00 PM ^
Merton?
October 27th, 2020 at 1:04 PM ^
Have to wonder if Illinois will see some cases considering he tested positive 2 days after playing them.
October 27th, 2020 at 1:27 PM ^
An interesting natural experiment. If Illinois gets hit with many positive cases, I venture to say Big 10 football is in trouble. If not, this thing might just play out (despite the setbacks to individual teams).
October 27th, 2020 at 1:45 PM ^
Not likely, as they hardly ever came near him all game.
October 27th, 2020 at 1:04 PM ^
Terrible post! You should be ashamed, OP... The all-out effort to be the first to post a scoop is just destroying any attempt to get things right.
October 27th, 2020 at 1:27 PM ^
Alas, it’s the internet. Being first has replaced being accurate and complete, even for the media.
October 27th, 2020 at 1:05 PM ^
Alice Merton! NOOOOOOo.........Roots
October 27th, 2020 at 1:07 PM ^
OP, your username definitely DOESN'T check out here. You need an editor badly, dude.
October 27th, 2020 at 1:08 PM ^
But it's a Daily editor.
It checks out.
October 27th, 2020 at 1:20 PM ^
Correction: Joe Merton, starting UM QB
October 27th, 2020 at 1:36 PM ^
Have to wonder how this will spread on Wisconsin's team and any team that plays them. B1G championship might go down to who can do the best job of containing outbreaks and might want to think about not having all your QBs for example in close proximity.

Ethel Mertz + Ethel Mermon = Ethel Merton

Did he get jobbed?
He definitely did not edit his sports today.
October 27th, 2020 at 2:04 PM ^
Merton Hanks? I thought he was out of eligibility.
October 27th, 2020 at 2:35 PM ^
Wait, Tom Hanks already had it, how did he get it again???
October 27th, 2020 at 2:21 PM ^
Hey buddy, if you're going to make a typo in a post, I recommend you don't make one with a name that shares four of six letters with our starting QB's name
October 27th, 2020 at 2:22 PM ^
I fell awful for these kids! But.....nobody (the media) gave a shit about us when we had multiple injuries at the QB position. Hammer Harbaugh and Michigan!
October 27th, 2020 at 2:24 PM ^
Buckey Badger is bringing the BOOM.....
The Vanden Boom
