Because that's not the defense we've played for what, 8 years now?  And the defense is not the problem here.  21st nationally tempo free.  That would be the best number in the KenPom era for us.  If we had a usual Beilein offense we'd be in line for a 1 or 2 seed here.

We do not.  Our three point gunners don't shoot great, the PG is not a threat to shoot, nobody can make free throws.  We have a stretch five and a good college player at the 2 who is not naturally a take over the game kind of player.  We also play to the level of our opponents.

Are both Teske and Livers injured? Neither guy played and that killed us. We need more beef inside and guys to enforce the paint. Without Teske and Livers for quality enforcement minutes, we suck.

ALL season long have been Huge disappointments and WTF with Simpson shooting 3s..Hes a HORRIBLE 3pt shooter and it is costing us..Dont get me started on Matthews  hes a total and complete LIABILITY, .Cant dribble ,misses layups and turns the ball over REPEATELY, Mo is hot and cold and Fts continue to cost this teams and its NOT getting better.Such a disappointing team so far.. witth 3 more road games they are now in danger of being left out of  the tournament..Its seems like we are always on life support to make  the torunament with maybe 2 exceptions..What the Hell has happened to this team....After that disasterous Football season I thought for  a moment there BB would give us something Good but alas they just arent very good..

I LOVE JB...truly hes a awesome coach but something is missing in this years team..they just arent Michigan..Even his early bad teams played with more grit and tenacity and hustle this team just going thru the motions and not very good at that..Just when you think theres something brewing and theey make the top 20 THIS!!

That half was stunningly bad.  Even worse than the first half against Northwestern last week.  The late big threes against OSU and now tonight really seemed to affect them in the second half.

Does this team lack leadership?  Seniors are pretty quiet guys.  Wagner seems like the emotional core and god knows he can sometimes let his emotions negatively affect his play.  Nobody's a Walton here.  Maybe that's where we miss Dakich most, oddly?

If Michigan had even put up two games where they looked even remotely like they did in East Lansing since that game I would be closer to where you are. They haven't. Except for @Purdue, this team has been utter trash over the past 7 games. Their offense is non-existant. It's not fatigue. It's not a blip. It's who they are.

Guys, relax. Northwestern makes games ugly. It’s their MO. 12 days ago this team gave Purdue a fight in Mackey. They beat MSU in East Lansing. Beat Texas on the road. Win the home games and beat Wisky on the road. They probably aren’t a 2nd weekend team, but it’s fine. Everything is fine.

No, it's not fine, it's complete shit. Would be the 8th time in 11 years Michigan basketball either won't be in the tournament or won't make it out of the 1st weekend. But how dare anyone actually have expectations for a guy who is one of the 5 highest paid coaches in college basketball. Did you hear him, "it's fine." Just, wow.

Getting out of the first weekend is fucking hard.  Even teams with endless NBA talent (say, Duke) only manage it about 50% of the time.  Doing it clean while developing guys you don't expect into first round picks is really fucking hard.

Also, with the right matchups (say, a team like Purdue but not as good), this team can still make it to the third round.  With the wrong matchup (say, a small team that switches everything and negates Wagner), they're bounced quickly.

The thing that is frustrating about people like you is that you only look at the negatives.  This team still beat MSU in Breslin.  They pushed the best team in the country to the limit twice.  Beat a team that is holding their own in the toughest conference in America.  And UCLA is a game out of second in the PAC-12.  They have some strong wins and performances.  They also have some very, very bad performances.  They're not consistent.

But that means they're doomed and suck and the best coach this program has ever had is secretly bad because we don't pay guys so don't have NBA players everywhere.

I don't care how hard it is, it's his job. He doesn't want to recruit 1 and dones fine, but then don't bitch that you can't win with a starting lineup full of juniors and seniors. He's one of the five highest paid coaches in college basketball and pretty much every year we're a fucking bubble team. It's in his DNA at this point.

This team's on the bubble. Thanks to awful scheduling, they only have 18 wins with a whole bunch of bad teams pulling their RPI down. OSU is a loss guaranteed. If they blow it against either Iowa or Wisconsin, then they will finish with 20-21 wins in the worst major conference in basketball this year. And that's if they beat both Penn State and Maryland on the road, which is no guarantee.

So much talent on this team absolutely wasted. 2 projected NBA players heading into this year and two seniors, along with a couple above-average freshman. And there's a good chance that they won't even make the tournament.

As much hate as Matthews gets he sat on the bench with 4 fouls with 8 min left and didn’t get back in until the 3 min mark. He elevates the play of the team significantly when he is on the court. Any monkey can see that

Didn’t realize that watching the game but regardless he elevates the play of the rest of the team and he’s a hustler he’s been going after so many rebounds all season long. He needs to come back next season the NBA is not for him right now please someone get that in his head

Iowa is 241st in the country defensively according to Ken Pom.  Might have something to do with it.

If we cannot score when we play Iowa later this week, then we have a real problem.  Northwestern is in the 60s, but I think much higher since they switched to that zone.

Michigan has been one of the most successful Big Ten basketball programs over the past five years.

2017 - Big Ten Tourney Champs and Sweet 16 (fell just short of Elite 8)
2016 - Down year. NCAA first round but won play-in game.
2015 - Very bad
2014 - Big Ten Reg Season Title and Elite 8
2013 - National Championship Runner Up

2013-2017: more players drafted than any other Big Ten team (7).

I think we’re doing quite well with Coach Beilein. Hail!

Michigan is going to make the NCAA tournament this year.

Yes we def still have work to do.

On NW loss: 22.7% from 3

Not going to win much with that.

Conf road games are difficult.

I've been watching B10 ball for a long f'n time and road games are always difficult.

NW is not a bad team but this is the worst loss of the season for the commitee:

NW is 98 RPI and 71 Ken Pom.

The offense just looks confused.

Michigan is going to make the NCAA tournament but will lose early if we can't shoot 3's and/or FT's.

Not sure how Belien is going to fix this.

Disappointing.

Mo is not going to NBA after this year and neither is anyone else.

Mo coulld go to Europe but his personality suggests that he will come back for unfinished business.

Ibi Watson will transfer which will make room for our incoming class.

Next year could be one bad ass deep team..

Michigan is going to make the NCAA tournament this year.
