Love it! Luke is underrated.
Not by everyone, apparently. He leapfrogged more than a dozen players.
Some had him going undrafted.
I still remember when he was coming out of high school, Schoonkamer's high school coach, Joe Linta, (Joe Flacco's agent, and now Schoonmakers agent) said he knew then Schoonmaker was going to be in the pros.
Time to buy some cowboys gear I guess?
As a lifelong Cowboys fan I love these first two picks. Hopefully we can make up for Taco Charlton.
Nope!
But I will root for Schoon and Mazi on Sundays!
Congrats to Luke, when he first declared I was skeptical. Definitely the right move.
Love it.
His development the past 2 season was awesome to watch. To me he was kind of was an afterthought of a player (especially in terms of NFL potential) and then as the 2021 season went on he started making plays where I was like, “wow, I didn’t know he had that type of ability as a pass catcher.” Then he just continued that on top of being a really good blocker and now he’s a 2nd rounder.
SCOOON!!!
His name means janitor in Dutch. Fitting because he's gonna absolutely clean up in the NFL. Good luck young man.
Well played!
This is funny, with how many pegged him 5th Round or later, and even as undrafted.
All would have probably went in the 1st Round.
Fuck man. Two M players to the Cowboys. Not ideal for a Giants fan (happy for mazi and schoon though)

I'm in the same boat. I was hoping the Giants would draft him in a later round. He would pair very nicely with Bellinger.
Just a lowely 3 star from New England.....
Now a frickin 2nd round NFL draft pick 🏈👍💪
Good luck Schooooon!!!
Good for him. Reading the comments in his "Hello" post from 2017 was fun:
GREAT FIND content for DAYS in there. (also a ton more comments in those days?)
Anyone who isn't disappointed going from hopefully ruckert to this guy is lying to themselves.
Jeremy Ruckert, Pick #101 in 2022, or 2 rounds later than LUKE FLIPPIN SCHOONMAKER

You're right. Thanks for posting.

MAGNUS called it
This kid isn't readymade for college as a freshman, but he's a good athlete. I'm a little surprised at the consternation. Tight end is a position where people come from all over the map to be successful - former QBs, former LBs, former basketball players, former DEs, former WRs, etc. I get that he doesn't play good competition, but he's a listed 6'6", 225 lb. kid with a reported forty time in the 4.6-4.7 range. Just watch the kid run - he can move. The technique stuff can be learned when you're a good athlete like him.
I like this kid.

Schoonmaker played QB before playing TE.

yes, hence his comment, and why you find hopeful "zach gentry?" comments in that thread as well.

Who was first to say it?
SCHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!!!!

Lol. I guess you can be the downvote to keep me below the 40K threshold.
April 28th, 2023 at 10:25 PM ^
nah let's start the push to 50k RIGHT NOW
40k?! Psh. That's nothing. I've had 5 point parties at least. And I survived the era of no points

Lions took laporta well before this pick, along with passing on Mayer.
Who would you take of the 3 ? I don't know how good the other two are.
April 28th, 2023 at 11:04 PM ^
I think Mayer may be a bust. He tested pretty poorly. He may not get any separation at the pro level and is an OK blocker. Honestly, if Schoon got the targets Mayer had, he would have been almost if not as successful and a better blocker.
LaPorta has more ability as a receiving threat as gar as stretching the field. Okay blocker. I thought Kincaid was the clear #1

Love it! Go Schoon!

Love the pick. Go Cowboys and Go Blue!!
The Lions return to their long tradition of refusing to use draft choices in the upper rounds on Michigan players. Drafting Hutchinson last year was an aberration. The Lions had the opportunity to draft Schoon, Mazi, or Turner, but decided other players were better. We’ll see.
Hello Donald.
