Line has dropped to -7

Some interesting momentum (for Michigan) in the betting trend as well.

Happy Black Friday everyone.

It’s just betting lines. If online betting were legal here in SC, I’d put down $100 on OSU to cover. Yes there’s the possibility we lose by <7 and I’m both sad and out $100 but I find that chance very slim.

My friends and I have referred to this concept as “fan insurance” for years. Essentially we determine how much a win is worth to us, and we are buying the win by betting the opponent’s money line. If our team wins it’s great; we got what we paid for. If our team loses we get our money back plus significant interest. The key is finding the balance so that you’re still happier with the win; if you find that you want the money more than the win, your bet was too big.

i will be rooting for our wolverines and will be in attendance, but if i'm being candid i'll be shocked if we're within 7 pts of ohio when the clock goes to 0:00.  could happen, but i just don't see it.  we're a very good football team but they have so many institutional advantages that have only piled up in their favor these last 20 years.  if we win it will be nothing short of a Christmas miracle delivered a month early.

Talking about the game yesterday with my daughters father in law, who’s also a buckeye fan. He’s nervous as hell as is any sensible buckeye fan who doesn’t use X in place of M and dropping words like scum on a regular basis. The concession was that Michigan really should have no shot in this one, that’s where I’m at. Another side of me wants to believe that Nebraska, Penn state, Minnesota and even Tulsa were actually teams disrupting what OSU wants to do and not them self imploding. I’ll approach this game with the energy and enthusiasm as any other year while fully guarding my ball sack so the proverbial kick doesn’t hurt as much as years past. The spread here truly means nothing and I sure hope by the half that the team and fans aren’t just waiting for the clock to hit 0.

My family was originally from flat rock and we moved to Ohio when I was young , so I have lived here the better part of my life and these people are assholes. The wife ordered me the new Jordan sideline jacket and I wore it to the grocery store the other night and was told by a buckeye fan who looked like the big nuts stunt double, that”someone shit on my coat” as he stood there with what may have been his grandson.

I have a buddy who is a reasonable fan of THAT school.  He hates other fans of THAT school for this reason.  I had a similar run in with someone at a store who told me "Michigan fans have to check out at the back of the store".  I smiled, but apparently since i never guffawed that prompted him to hit me with, "hey man, its just a joke".  Told my buddy about it and he said i should have hit him back with "roll tide".

I can see why rational Bucknuts are holding their breath, if only a little bit for this game. I've heard the same from my B'nut friends (who all things considered are good and decent people despite their clear lack of sports fandom judgement).

Michigan is going to be the best team they will have to face at this point in their season. Better than Oregon. Better than Penn State (and yes, Michigan is a better team than Michigan State). OSU is and should be the clear favorite, but this isn't going to be just a walk in the park for Ohio State. They rely on first and second year players at RB and QB respectively. Handling pressure on the road is different for young players than it is playing at home, and the Big House will be nothing like their young starters have experienced before. They have a good and talented defense, but they are not world beaters either (I would put them relatively on par with Penn State).

As much as Michigan fans talk about what OSU has in store for us, it's also worth remembering we have some things in store for them also. We're not on the Bama/OSU/UGA level, but we still have a pretty damn good team. I firmly believe we are OSU's toughest matchup of the season. It's understandable why some of their more objective fans might get some butterflies a little bit, despite the fact they are the clear and rightful favorite in this one.

I guess I don’t put much stock in what the lines are. If I did I would have bet and lost on a few games this year…Sparty. I just feel like we’ll have our ears pinned back from the 1st play and CJ hasn’t faced ends like we have in Hutch and Ojabo. The OSU keyboard warriors, never been to a game fans are dismissing our pass rush which I feel is a mistake. Days gonna want style point and will be greedy in this one. I believe once Stroud gets lit up once his youth is gonna show and it’s game on. I don’t frequent other teams boards, but would love to see 11 warriors showing puppy dogs and rainbows when the clock hits zero.

Never said I don’t believe in our team. But I’m surely not gonna discount a team who’s loaded with talent on the line and a stable full of highly recruited running backs ability to pound the rock because they can also pass well.  To just assume if it turns into a wet fart contest then we would automatically benefit is ignorant.

Maybe because A2 has felt like a neutral site the last 3-4 yrs. hopefully not this time. If any Michigan fan has a voice on Sunday then they need to be ashamed. Any “down in fronts” need to be swiftly escorted out of the stadium and replaced with a fan who didn’t have a ticket. Washington  was insane and we need this to double on the decibel  chart. I was flying to Miami the Sunday after Washington and chatted up some fans who thought the atmosphere was incredible and weren’t expecting it for all the bad they heard about the big house.

I know that we are all spent after what has happened over the last 17 seasons.  But I feel that people ignoring some very important points.

OSU has played four road games against teams with a collective record of 17-27 with Minnesota being the only team with a winning record (7-4).  Nebraska was robbed by a bad PI no call.

OSU is playing against their toughest defense on the road.  Where Michigan has only given up10 points per game at home.  And that number is distorted because of garbage time (Rocky Lombardi touchdown run for instance).

Yes the OSU talent on offense is unmatched.  All of their skill players are world beaters.  But they are also young.  Stroud is a redshirt freshman who hasn't played in front of 110,000 people in the game.

And Oregon was without their best player that day. OSU hasn’t faced a lineman of that caliber so this will be uncharted territory for them. I really see Hutch playing like he rammed an 8 ball up his snout before he takes the field. I honestly think outside of getting pushed beyond the qb, which is probably their best defense of him, that he’s gonna wreak havoc. If that’s the case then keeping a RB to help is just gonna free up a side for Ojabo to headhunt. I love Ross but seeing some speed at linebacker no matter who it may be, Barrett or otherwise isn’t a bad thing.
