Late Afternoon Games Thread

If you get bored watching Appalachian State play in the Sun Belt championship game at 4, you can always switch to the SEC game.  Roll tide, as much as it pains me to say that.

Definitely think Bama gets rolled here, not like they were impressive throughout the season. Barely got by A&M, Arkansas, and needed an improbable miracle versus Auburn.

Fuck the Tide, I hope they get tsunami'd!!!

So yeah, don't currently have CBS because companies that own network affiliates are fucking crooks...these are the types of things where congress needs to get involved and protect consumers, they're too busy getting bribed and lining their pockets.

I had to purchase paramount plus to watch, sigh.

Bama seems to have settled down a bit. Their D just did a good job pinning Georgia in their endzone.

That produced a punt which will give the Bama O a pretty short field. Still lots of time left in this game.

Reichard redshirted in '19, free year in '20, so he is already the highest scoring player in CFB history and could play for an entire year more.

Fortunately I have 2 TV's on the wall, watching Michigan bball as well, leading Oregon 50-47 thanks to Dug! He's on fire.

That floor at Oregon though, so ugly and hard to watch games, ugh!

Who can get bored when you can compare 37yo Sherrone Moore to a Roman war hero of the 3rd Punic War - Scipio The Yonger Age 37?

Do people not know there are endless comparisons between M/OSU and Rome/Carthage?

I was thinking about this last night...

Ohio is Carthage (soft and crazy, but has good players).

Scipio The Younger, rises up the ranks through battlefield promotions (Moore and Matt Weiss/ Connor Stallions).

They both beat their rival in the third installment . 2021 = 1st Punic war. 2022 = 2nd Punic.

Scipio The Younger was youngest ever Consul to win war vs nemesis. Sherrone Moore youngest ever HC to beat Ohio State.

Scipio The Younger, was bastard grandson of last Roman Legend (Scipio Africanus) to beat Carthage in the 2nd Punic war. Sherrone Moore is the bastard coaching son of Jim Harbaugh, last Michigan Legend to Beat the Buckeyes in 2022.

Age 34 they both won the highest awards they could win at their respective ranks (Mural Crown/Joe Moore Award Winner).

Scipio started as soldier volunteer and was killing people at 17, Moore was Guard for 2007 Oklahoma killing MLBs for D.Murray and Sam Bradford at 21. Both versatile in battle coaching all over different positions (calavlry, supply runs, ambush, siege, naval, etc)

Scipio scaled a fort wall and murdered everyone and then flew the Roman Standard as a signal. Sherrone moore led the OLine into hostile territory '22 and murdered buckeyD and then planted the flag in the horseshoe.

Both got emotional after victory and cried and gave a memorable quotes.

Both burn Nemesis to ground. Scipio after carthage and salting the earth. Buckeye fanbase after 3rd consecutive loss want to burn the program to ground and got salt in their eyes bc there's no excuses left.

Carthage ruling elites were soft from luxury trade goods like their purple dye. Buckeyes soft and like luxury LV cleats.

Carthaginians worshiped bronze idols of Bhaal. Ohio State has the most bronze Heismans.

Carthage was top dog in the Meditteranean before this 3Peat Punic war. OSU was top dog in big10 before our 3Peat  in '21'22'23.

S. Moore could also be likened to General Robert E Lee's (REL) early career in the Mexican-American war at 37 years old.

Both distinguish themselves early with correct Recon skills, leading to victories when counted on by their superiors. REL was basically Offensive Coordinator for General Winfeld Scott as a engineering staff officer head of recon, troop movements, and attack routes.

Battle of Vercruz march 1847 ('21 Michigan): Lee's engingeering crucial to siege lines and battrylines (M offensive lines) to win the siege.

Battle of Cerro Gordo April 1847 (22 Michigan): Lee identified traversable rough terrain pathes (M Oline D Edwards) around mexican left flank (Jim Knowles Q4 Cover0 Defense x2)  that was the backbreaker in battle.

So far, whenever I change channels on commercial to check Michigan v. Ore. or UNLV, just getting more commercials.  Might as well just make more runs to kitchen.

PlinyElder (PE), ScipioAfricanus (SA), ScipioYounger (SY) all saw action commanding Calvary.

Pliney the elder (PE) was bad ass because he died like a 9/11 hero volunteering to try and save Pompeii citizens after the Vesuvius eruption when he could have stayed on his boat.

Despite being anti-Christian, PY (PlinyYounger), would be Michigan's Gerald R Ford, in his transition to public office and literature.

PY, probably from how PE died, was one first Governors on record to ask emperor for official power to create govnt firefighting groups - rather than the asshole Crassus type firefighters who only put out the fire when the peasants agree to sell the house to them for 10 cents on the dollar.

Yost and PE would be most comparable. Yost's advocate for the forward pass and PE's first encyclopedia both revolutionized subsequent evolution of natural and football history that you see iterated on today. Yost was always brainstorming writing new pass plays. PE's freetime was spent writing books, but only one survived. 37 volume Historia Naturalis, was first Roman Encyplopedia of known animals, mermaids, Elephant tusk weights, and whatever.

Yost grew up poor in WV son of Confederate soldier. PE grew up lower aristocratic non-senatorial.
