KU Basketball to be charged with major violations from NCAA
The NCAA is preparing to issue a notice of allegations that details multiple major violations in the Kansas men’s basketball program.
Any way we can get Jalen Wilson back?

Bill Self - justice is sweet...
September 20th, 2019 at 5:05 PM ^
Except nothing will happen. Should, but it won't.
September 20th, 2019 at 5:10 PM ^
Yeah the KU football team will get a one year Cheez-it Bowl ban.
September 20th, 2019 at 5:27 PM ^
The KU football program is giddy that you think they have a chance at bowl eligibility.
September 20th, 2019 at 5:28 PM ^
Mmmm...Cheezits.
September 20th, 2019 at 7:15 PM ^
I'll reiterate a previous statement: They are Satan's candy, they DON'T taste like cheese and crackers, they taste like feet. Recently on a flight they announced "cheese and crackers" and then revealed that promise to be Cheez-its. Now I know why they don't allow knives and sharp objects on planes...
September 20th, 2019 at 7:32 PM ^
FWIW, I agree with you.
September 20th, 2019 at 5:11 PM ^
Don't be so sure - they could take away 2 official visit slots for 2027.
The bag men would be forced to travel to the recruits' home to make their payments as opposed to central cash distribution. Serious stuff!
September 20th, 2019 at 5:30 PM ^
Emporia State and Fort Hays State are going to pay for KU's transgressions.
September 20th, 2019 at 9:32 PM ^
Dolla Dolla bill yall
September 20th, 2019 at 5:01 PM ^
Good. I wonder if there will be serious punishments.
September 20th, 2019 at 5:03 PM ^
Same here.
Other than Duke, there's no other school I'd like to see tarred and feathered more than KU.
It's the hypocrisy; they're not necessarily the worst ones.
September 20th, 2019 at 5:12 PM ^
Kentucky and the slimeball Calipari top the list for me. Then KU for me.
September 20th, 2019 at 5:14 PM ^
UNC is at the top for me. Can’t believe they skated on that academic fraud. Actually I can.
September 20th, 2019 at 6:47 PM ^
I agree. If this were major violations against North Carolina, I would be giddy.
September 20th, 2019 at 7:16 PM ^
Amen. KY and UNC I lump in the same category. Fuck em.
September 20th, 2019 at 8:54 PM ^
I have to agree with this one. Cheating in sports is one thing, but for an accredited institution to cheat academically is what I find to be offensive. There should have been repercussions that went beyond the NCAA. It's something I find to be extremely disheartening as it's such a great research institute. My grandfather went there and I know people who lectured there. I don't know what's worse–the fact that their work is now associated with an institution willing to flaunt intellectual integrity or the fact that no one cares.

At least Cal doesn’t act like he’s holier than thou like Coach K. Cal is out there advocating for the players in a lot of ways. Coach K will only do that when he gets caught. He’s far slimier than Cal IMO
September 20th, 2019 at 6:35 PM ^
I like John Calipari and think he is a lot better of a guy and coach than people on here make him out to be.
And to add to that point, I totally agree with that logic.I like Cal and Saban way more than Roy/K and Dabo. They all have their kids getting bags, but I'd rather you not put on a pretend southern gentleman/holier than thou bravado.

He let me into traffic once, high character move if you ask me.

I lived in Arizona for 3 years before moving back to Michigan. When I was there, my dentist was a roommate and fraternity brother with West Virginia Coach Huggins and still is friends with him these days. We had numerous discussions during March madness and was told that "Duke" is the dirtiest program in college.
September 20th, 2019 at 5:53 PM ^
Really? You think there's a chance in hell the NCAA will come down on one of its 5 most prestigious basketball programs?
Spoiler: there isn't.
They might lose a scholarship for a year, which Kansas will appeal and win back.
September 20th, 2019 at 7:25 PM ^
I'm old enough to remember when they dropped a ton of bricks on Kentucky's head.
September 21st, 2019 at 8:54 AM ^
Yeah!
And don’t forget that ONE movie in history they filmed about Kansas (Wizard of Oz) they only paid those Toto and those sweet Munchkins “1/2 price”....
Drop a house on ‘em!

Watch out Cleveland State!
September 20th, 2019 at 5:09 PM ^
Don't be silly, the NCAA isn't going to touch Cleveland State because of a KU recruiting violation.
Central Christian College of Kansas, OTOH, is going to be in some serious $hit.
September 20th, 2019 at 5:12 PM ^
Not the Tigers!
September 20th, 2019 at 5:15 PM ^
You do the crime (Bill Self), somebody has to do the time (CCOK Tigers)!
September 20th, 2019 at 8:57 PM ^
How in the world do you know about Central Christian??? It is insane that so many of these small towns out here in the godforsaken state of Kansas have a college-and McPherson, where Central is, has two!
It would be so maaavelous if KU got whacked...it's all these pathetic, pathologically ethnocentric folks have to hang their hat on.
September 20th, 2019 at 5:12 PM ^
This is totally unfair, Bill Self already explained that he and the Kansas basketball are the victims here.
September 20th, 2019 at 5:12 PM ^
I fully expect nothing to come of this process.
September 20th, 2019 at 5:17 PM ^
Hmm. Will be interesting to see how the NCAA punishes Missouri for not keeping a closer eye on their neighbors.
September 20th, 2019 at 5:21 PM ^
Oh, give them the death penalty for sure...gotta police Kansas better than that Mizzou.
September 20th, 2019 at 5:55 PM ^
I'll be deep in the cold, cold ground before I recognize Missourah
September 20th, 2019 at 8:06 PM ^
Got to admit, I always wondered why.
September 20th, 2019 at 5:19 PM ^
Look out Kansas, the NCAA is going to impose a ban of ONE SCHOLARSHIP, and ONE LESS PRACTICE...whew, glad they are finally cleaning up recruiting.
September 20th, 2019 at 5:22 PM ^
NCAA had to choose a blueblood to punish. Sorry Kansas, but apparently Duke, Kentucky, and North Carolina are more important to the NCAA
As for Jalen Wilson he is possibly damaged goods. I wanted him but I also don't want to start Howards tenure off under NCAA spotlight
September 20th, 2019 at 7:00 PM ^
Jalen Wilson signed an LOI for John Beilein. I'm not worried about him being shady.
One way to lose out in recruiting is to offer money under the table to the wrong people.
September 20th, 2019 at 5:43 PM ^
I will believe it when I see it. The NCAA will probably punish Kansas State instead.
September 20th, 2019 at 5:49 PM ^
Kansas was cheating?
Shocking.
September 20th, 2019 at 5:49 PM ^
I'd pass on taking Jalen Wilson back.
September 20th, 2019 at 6:31 PM ^
Bullshit
September 20th, 2019 at 5:58 PM ^
They are going to lose out on two official bagman visits next year, they might have to settle for a few 4 stars next cycle. Be brave coach self, keep a stiff upper lip.
September 20th, 2019 at 6:14 PM ^
I'll believe actual serious punishment is going to be handed out only after the fact.
September 20th, 2019 at 6:22 PM ^
Reading stories like this makes me really appreciate Coach Bielien: not just for bringing winning back to Michigan, but doing so with integrity that has been missing in today's game.
September 20th, 2019 at 7:25 PM ^
Minus one for not realizing that John Beilein supersedes silly rules like "i before e". NCAA rules he will obey. But he can spell his name how he wants.
September 20th, 2019 at 7:57 PM ^
This is the most MGoBlog post I have read on MGoBlog in five years. My (MGoBlog) hat is off.
September 20th, 2019 at 7:43 PM ^
What’s really interesting in the ESPN story on this is that Self and Adidas we’re talking about what it would take to get Zion - money, jobs, housing etc. And NCAA thinks he went to Duke for zero ? And not investigating Duke ??
September 20th, 2019 at 7:56 PM ^
Jalen Wilson could be eligible for a penalty free transfer when this comes down. He might want to bolt now.
September 20th, 2019 at 8:55 PM ^
Looks like everyone believes the NCAA will actually do something about as much as employees at a workplace believe their internal worker satisfaction questionnaire is anonymous.
