Juwan Howard RE: Status Of Sanderson

Submitted by 42-27 on December 16th, 2023 at 5:49 PM

Title says it all.  Ouch.  This sucks.

Why even comment on this if you're Juwan? Just decline to answer or say things are steady.

Tweet link.

MOD EDIT - Link to more detailed article HERE, which includes the following more detailed quotation:

Howard was asked about Sanderson’s status with the program. “I’m not sure,” Howard said. “I would definitely say to you, go back to that statement that Warde made and that will of course answer any question that you have.

Please include an article if you're going to do this. People can very easily manipulate the discussion using only tweets. - LSA

Because he seemingly lacks the tact, professionalism, and self awareness to know any better. He's from Chicago remember? He must defend himself from scary monsters at all costs.

In comes Jace, who buttressed it by sticking up for daddy, which is to be expected, however unnecessary.  But then, he also basically threw our doctors under the bus.

Also lacking self awareness in forgetting he's a GLIAC talent only play8ng at this level because his Dada is Juwan Howard.

Newsflash, nobody's missing your presence fam. You're a liability on the floor, and possibly in the program as a whole.

And we dgaf that your dad's from the Chi. At all. You two mfs need to get a clue or leave. That would be better.

Rant over, neg away!

Juwan's best coaching days are in front of him.  The team is going to improve with him actually coaching games. The Juwan hate is unbecoming.  The Wisconsin coach was a dick and deserved it.  Warde said their is nothing to see here.  Let's actually admit Juwan's recruits and all of these problems will go away.

I guess this is what happens when a coach is falling short of our collective expectations.

Fan base was split over Carr.

Fan base was split over RichRod.

Fan base was split over Harbaugh circa 2019-2020.

Fan base was split over Beilein anytime he wasn't in the Top 10 (although by a certain point the haters were mostly laughed off).

I don't remember anyone crying over Ellerbe or Amaker though. And I don't think a single person was advocating for keeping Hoke in 2014. Or even in 2013.

I literally always supported all of Michigan's coaches until it was their time!  Beilein became my all time favorite but before that it was Johnny Orr and that's a fact!  When Beilein left I became sad because I knew what was waiting for him in the NBA!  Beilein could never be replaced just revered.  Comparing Howard and Beilein at this point is,"Impossible."

Good points. I think he got off to a good start and we just expected that it would continue to get better. He’s having to learn what types of kids to recruit. Had a few good classes on paper but kids like Houstan, Diabete and Jett never materialized. Lost Zeb Jackson and DeJulius and Collins all PG’s to the portal and has struggled developing (which I blame Eisley) a solid pg. We all loved where JB had the program but the fact that he didn’t have a successor stymied the growth. I don’t think we were prepared for him to bolt and our options were limited and Juwan has had to learn a lot on the job. That’s why I feel like if he can get some solid assistants to bring some freshness to both offense and defense and let Juwan recruit and lead we will be back where we want to be. There are some big recruits he is in on in 24-25 and beyond. Keep this receipt. He will have us back.

I'm at a place right now where I'm fine if he's fired or stays. There's a lot of season left, so he could still totally win me over this year, or he could still totally lose me.

I wouldn't want to fire him midseason but if this HR complaint had turned out to be something, I wouldn't have been crushed that he had to be dismissed. (Just to be clear, given the result of the review, I assume Howard didn't do anything wrong.)

I hold him responsible for the roster construction, the staff, the recruiting misses, etc. I do think this year has extenuating circumstances with his medical issue, but I wasn't overly optimistic with this roster coming into the season and don't have a reason yet to change my mind.

If he's here in 2024-25, I hope I have a reason to be optimistic going in, and even more than that I hope he proves you right.

I wish U of Michigan sports would just stop popping up in the news and sports media for negative issues. Just calm down and let another University get in trouble, and take the spot light off of us for awhile!

Coach B accomplished more in his tenure than any modern day Michigan basketball coach ever will accomplish. Go back and watch the big ten tournament and ncaa tournament runs that we went on with his less than perfect teams.

how can people not realize how great we had it?  He was an incredible human being, incredible coach, and incredible mentor and a class act on and off the court.

the juwan Howard apologists who think that he is somehow better than coach B or think that there is some witch-hunt against juwan are beyond hope or have brains that are clearly not yet fully developed.

The last year with Jett on the court was the best for example of our lack of team cohesiveness. We were better with jett off the court.

I loved juwan as a player but he has shown limited skill as a head coach and he is a liability to the team. Where there is smoke there is fire. We were a great basketball team. How are people forgetting what happened under John B the last 5 years of his tenure. Those were remarkable runs.

I am embarrassed that our fan base doesn’t have the capacity to think anymore.
