I think the Panthers have now made two good hires. Will be interesting to see where Newton fits in their plans.
January 14th, 2020 at 8:00 PM ^
He doesn't fit into their plans.
January 14th, 2020 at 8:51 PM ^
Tom Brady is though.
January 14th, 2020 at 9:12 PM ^
He fits in as Kyle Allen’s backup.

SLAM the under on wins for LSU next year. I’m assuming it will be 10.5....which is an easy under.
January 14th, 2020 at 7:47 PM ^
Won’t recognize that team next year, but hey, they got a natty.
January 14th, 2020 at 7:56 PM ^
I don't know about you, but I'd take a year like that, even if it was only a year.
January 14th, 2020 at 8:23 PM ^
For SHO
January 14th, 2020 at 9:08 PM ^
Especially with their ability to recruit. They've got a ton of young guys coming back next year. Unfortunately for them though, Joe burrow is not one of them.
January 15th, 2020 at 9:05 AM ^
so kind of like 1997?
January 14th, 2020 at 7:46 PM ^
So much for everyone who speculated about how much he loved being in college and at LSU. There are probably people still partying in New Orleans and he's on his way out already.
January 14th, 2020 at 8:40 PM ^
Especially since he signed a contract extension with LSU last week.
January 14th, 2020 at 8:00 PM ^
LSU one and done
January 14th, 2020 at 8:01 PM ^
Not sure how well he’s gonna do. He was blessed with arguably the best quarterback in college football history. Might as well make the fat dollars while you can though.
January 14th, 2020 at 8:44 PM ^
Seriously, best QB in college football history? That's a smoking hot take...
January 14th, 2020 at 9:17 PM ^
He had the best individual season in college football history, statistically and in terms of wins and awards, but the inconsistency of his career probably doesn't put him as the best ever
January 15th, 2020 at 10:05 AM ^
Well, Joe Brady only had Burrow for one year, which was statistically the best QB season ever. So, the guys' point was not wrong.
January 14th, 2020 at 9:44 PM ^
I'm not sure I'd say he's the best ever. Heck, it'll be interesting to see how Lawerence does next year. Could certainly hold the claim as the best modern QB once he goes pro...
With that in mind, Burrow may have had the individual best year of any QB in the history of college football. The domination he exhibited as well as the contributions he made to the broader team are second to none (except for possibly Tate Forcier). I really can't come up with a better QB, at least in recent history. It will be a good debate!
January 14th, 2020 at 10:40 PM ^
For one season, no, that definitely is not a smoking hot take.
It's actually a pretty valid argument.
January 15th, 2020 at 7:38 AM ^
Yeah, everyone believed Joe Burrow was the second coming this time last year. Kyler who? Tua what?
January 15th, 2020 at 9:05 AM ^
I really wonder if it's the QB, or those receivers with the system. His receivers made some amazing catches and would make downfield catches consistently even when covered.
For my money I would still take college Vince Young as the best.
January 14th, 2020 at 8:02 PM ^
seems like an NFL guy who came and did the magic for one year. good for him.
January 14th, 2020 at 8:09 PM ^
Regression to the mean in 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 ..:
January 14th, 2020 at 8:24 PM ^
He must not have been on OBJ's payroll.
January 14th, 2020 at 8:32 PM ^
What's LSU going to do now? Ed Orgeron will have to find the next Joe Brady.
January 14th, 2020 at 8:55 PM ^
It will be very interesting to watch. I remember when Gene Chizik won a title with Malzahn and Newton. He got fired two years later.
January 14th, 2020 at 9:22 PM ^
This is what will happen to Ed. Probably a few more than 2 years but I doubt he lasts more than 4 years.
January 14th, 2020 at 9:16 PM ^
That's smart because this is the highest his stock will ever be. Burrow made him. Burrow is gone now. He wouldnt have been able to replicate this offensive success with another QB
January 14th, 2020 at 9:55 PM ^
I suspect this year will go down as an aberration for Coach O, led by Burrow and Brady. Will be interesting to see if he can keep them anywhere close to these highs over the next 5ish years. I suspect the answer will be no and he'll see a Larry Coker-like career in Baton Rouge
January 14th, 2020 at 10:12 PM ^
If I'm Rhule, I'm offering Kyle Allen, #7, and three future firsts for that #1 pick.
Get the band back together!
January 14th, 2020 at 10:29 PM ^
Surprised he wasn't an HC candidate
January 15th, 2020 at 8:09 AM ^
30 years old did I read? Good for him...talk about having life by the nuts.
The good thing for LSU is they are recruiting like crazy. That state was spilling guys left and right to Bama and they are not anymore. A few here and there but they appear to be locking it down from a recrtuiting standpoint. Even with regression they should have, at worst, a 9 win year but with a bowl likely 10 wins with a chance for 11. They do play at FL and at Auburn and of course have Bama. I bet they win 2/3 of those though and finish 10-2 regular season.
If that is their regression, that is not bad at all and they have some young studs coming up.
