Just read this from CBS Sports.  A review from Matt Norlander, CBS Sports, from the Peach Jam championship.  Including comments about Emoni Bates and Derick Lively.

Thanks! I'd been curious about Jett's development and had not read much about him lately. The author views him as a top 25 talent who needs to improve his defense.

The whole portion of the article on Bates is spot on. There’s nothing wrong with the fact that he’s not a generational talent but to put that stigma on him when he was 15 just sets him up for never living up to other peoples hype. He’s still going to be a really good basketball player but there are easily several kids that are better then him right now in his own class, let alone any other classes.

Oh OJ Mayo. I remember that he was a heck of a talent coming out of high school  and college. He really is one of the most pro-ready players I remember coming out of the high-school ranks - which makes sense considering his age when he came to USC (I think he was already 20ish in his freshman year).

His first year in the NBA was ROTY-worthy, but the Grizzlies head coach, Lionel Hollins, went all-in on trying to turn him into a traditional point guard after his rookie year despite having Kyle Lowry and Mike Conley on the roster. When that didn’t work, they banished him to the bench, where he started to quickly decline in production/value. Then when he got his ass beat by Tony Allen on the team, that was the end of that. After quick stops in Dallas and Milwaukee, he was kicked out of the league due to a hard drug issue if I recall.

Truthfully, he was a player who’s playing style was about 6-7 years too early for what the NBA became with small-ball 3 point barrages. If he were a rookie now, he’d be in a much better position to prosper and be a Kyrie Irving-style player.

Though similar cautionary tales of labeling players as generational athletes (remember Jayshaun Augusto?), I don’t think Emoni is nearly the level of recruit (both in skill and hype) OJ was by the time he was going into college.

Oh and Jett is completely under ranked. He’s definitely top 25. I wish he would commit and start helping build the rest of the class. If he and Reed commit we would currently have the number one class again and I would almost guarantee someone would then jump onboard to finish out the class. Right now we have multiple spots open so nobody is pressed to get their spot.

I agree with Jarrod Reed, but if you're a recruit seriously considering Michigan (to the point where you could commit now and would be a take now, there are only a handful of dudes in that category) you likely are more up to speed on the Jett Howard situation than we are and are therefore not looking at the 247sports recruiting board.

Once you get over your confusion, Magnus, put peach jam on your next recruiting/shopping list or better yet, seek out a local farm. It's only a 3⭐ in the eyes of many, but IMO very underrated.

Take a look at the film if you don't believe me.  Great upside, especially on your breakfast toast or muffins:

Eat enough of it and I guarantee you will soon be experiencing a lower pad level.

I'm not sure where he'll end up in the rankings but I think Jett is going to be one of the more underrated guys in the class. Not many other players that are 6'7" or 6'8" that can handle the ball, pass, and shoot like he can
