James Ross moving on to coach LBs at Hope College
Good Luck James!
Good luck to Biggs and the Flying Dutchmen.
Nikhai Hill Green, Junior Colson, and Kalel Mullings come on down.
Edit: I'm a dum-dum and read this as Josh Ross coaching in lieu of playing this year.
You thought our starting LB was forgoing this year of starting at Michigan to go coach Hope College LBs? Lol
Im not bagging on you, my brain does dumb stuff like this too; more times than I’d like to admit.
User name checks out? sorry, could not resist.
Good for him. Hope this is a great start to his career.
This is awesome! I'm glad Calvin doesn't have a football team so I can be unconflicted in my excitement for him.
The good news is, if Calvin did have a football team, at least you could take comfort in knowing that the outcomes of their games are predetermined anyway.

Don't take too much comfort, you're a totally depraved individual.

I like to think of it this way: Calvin Football has never lost a game in its entire history.

Calvin and Hope basketball teams are both very historically strong, and they largely pull from a similar pool of prospects. If you're recruited by one you've almost certainly heard from the other. If one of them didn't have a team, the other might be dynasty.
Inference: if Calvin had football all of these years, it potentially could have made a much tougher road for Hope's program.
As a Hope College alum, I thought this was very cool to hear. Planning on visiting both the Hope and UM campuses with my oldest son when we're back in Michigan this summer. I'm assuming he'll be teaching some classes too?

Not necessarily (although I don't know Ross' background to know if he would be interested in teaching classes). When I was playing at Hope only a few of our football coaches also taught classes. Our tight end coach was a sheriff, for example.

Good luck to him. Glad he's found a nice step in his next career.

I didn't go to Hope. It's an ethnic reference in my username.
My best friend was one of their all-time stars.
Go Dutch!

I was one of their all-time mediocre players!

Come on! Name drop!! Let’s hear it.
And I did go to Hope. Not actually Dutch at all.

Excellent. I always love seeing these young men progress to the next level!
Congrats to James aka Biggs on your next opportunity. Michigan was great place to begin his coaching career and who knows, he might be back to coach at Michigan again sooner than he thinks. I will be watching as he progresses in his career around the game he loves.
