Incredulous Iowa

I am just fucking baffled watching this team.

They have an all world defense and a high school offense and I just watch and think anyone with a brain should know what you could have.

But no.  it’s seriously beyond fucked up.

Iowa is blessed playing the West where they get all these other shit offenses so no one can really make them pay for being completely inept on offense.

If they were in the East, they would probably max at like 8 wins. If you get like 7-10 point lead, it's almost insurmountable for them.

I think it's pretty awesome. A real throwback. Ferentz is a great coach for a team like Iowa. It's hilarious that there's people who think Iowa could actually improve on him.

I think I have some sort of weird Stockholm Syndrome with respect to Iowa. I mean, sure, they're a lot like Michigan. Run the ball. Play defense. Stubborn as hell, especially on offense. Usually an excellent defense. And sure, they do the hospital wave, which is probably the coolest thing in CFB.

OK, fine, but they have beaten us way too often, and even RUINED our season in 1985. And almost in 1997. Granted, we were in large part responsible for the losses due to the above stubbornness. And yet, I enjoy most things about that program -- yeah, no, not the racism -- and that has to be some kind of weird thing.

Stockholm Syndrome, that's what I'm going with.

It was good news for Iowa in 2 ways. They won so are still in the running for the west and more importantly  they only scored 15 points - meaning Brian Ference is 10 point below the 25 points a game average he needs to ensure he keeps his job.

Win-win for Iowa fans.

Brian Ferentz is not losing his job if he doesn't hit the magic point total - technically it just triggers contract renegotiation.

If Iowa keeps winning (not even winning out, just winning 70-80% of their games) - even with such a bad offense - Kirk stays... and he isn't going to fire Brian.

I’d LOVE to see Iowa play USC at Kinnick. Belittle them all we want but they execute that weird ass game plan and more teams than not are victims. I’m waiting for a 3rd down punt to completely blow everyone’s minds:) it’s like they’re fighting WW1 against desert storm armies and if the 1st quarter is stalemate there’s a good chance you’re in trouble.
