If there's any game I'd be OK with losing this season, tomorrow is it (commence downvotes)

Hear me out:

- It's an early-season loss.  That historically hurts way less than a late-season loss.

- It's non-conference.

- It's an offense we'll never see again all year, so telling of nothing.

- Army jumps into the top-25 with a win, and has a decent change of winning out.  It should be expected at the very least that they'd be ranked throughout the season if they win tomorrow.  So, not a "bad loss."

- Last and certainly not least, these are servicemen.  I could never begrudge them no matter what.

For what it's worth, I still think Michigan wins by 2-3 scores, so go easy on me here.

Happy Friday!

I'm going to say no since if this team wants to have any hope of making the playoff this is a game they can't afford to lose. Not with the conference schedule they have plus ND. The chances of making it through the rest of the way unscathed are slim. And if the offense doesn't score enough to beat army who is overmatched  then that does not bode well for the rest of the season.

My guess would be that it’s “You suck, bitch” more than “you suck bitch” — reminding me of my favorite comma illustration: “Let’s eat, Grandma” vs. “Let’s eat Grandma.” Although said live, the insult doesn’t seem to have the slight pause you would expect from a comma being present. So I could see how it could be heard as “you suck bitch.” In which case I completely agree that it’s an inane insult.

Either way, include me in the number of those vehemently opposing the use of this chant.

Quit with this nonsense! People are worried about Army for what? The close loss to Oklahoma last year with a historically bad defense. Give me a break. Stupid post and you know it op.

Lol. Where did I say people thought Army would win. Have you not been paying attention these last few months. There is a lot of concern with playing Army from many posters here on this blog. I shouldn't have to point that out, but hey, I am just a random internet guy. You both should be better. Lol.

JFC. We’ve played exactly one game with a new offense, 5 starters out, and our QB hurt after the first play and still won by 19. Can we chill out?

I feel the same way. ND is probably the only game we can lose and definitely win the B1G without help and still be in playoff contention.  Unless ND is in the playoff that is, because that would mean back to back years leaving 2/5 P5 conferences out of the playoff and Clemson/Bama are pretty solid locks.

what kind of mindset is this??

I understand where you are from but we can pay plenty of respect and tribute to our servicemen without sacrificing the football game. Game is a game, but I will gladly deliver your generous offer of your home donation to home for our troop.

It's an interesting exercise, I suppose. Kind of like, "if Harbaugh has to be strapped to a dentist's chair and left in the press box for one game, I hope it's for Maryland, because that's not all that far from Liberty."

That got me thinking about politics, since Liberty and College Park aren't that far from our nation's capital. Would it improve government if Trump had to hold all press conferences strapped to a dentist's chair? What if the next round of Democratic debates took place with the candidates arranged in a semi-circle of dentist's chairs? And each one was attended by a hygienist, who kept inserting those little cotton pads as the debate progressed, so the candidates would have to speak really slowly and you couldn't understand them anyway. The network running the debate would hire a dentist to interpret their answers, only it was actually a Russian operative, not a real dentist, and, well, you see where that's headed.

I think the real answer, though, is not in who and when (as long as the when isn't November) but in how. It has to be a close game and opponent has to be good enough to be credible but not good enough that its own record needs to be analyzed, game by game.
