I Hate Ohio State

They always have a winning season.

If we are ranked, they are usually ranked by the time we play.

Their fans know nothing of the black pit of negative expectations (BPONE).

They had 3 WRs go in the first round and replaced them with three more that will likely get drafted.

They lose JSN and it doesn't matter for them.

Why is chaos coach Kevin Wilson their OC?

Why aren't their coaches poached more?

Tressell delivers on his promise to beat Michigan.

They follow up Tressell with Urban Meyer.

Urban Meyer never lost to Michigan as coach of OSU.

JT was short.

We lost the 2006 game.

We didn't get the 2 point conversion in 2013 to win it.

Michigan coach Greg Mattison going to OSU...

Terrel Pryor going to OSU after RR publicly courted him.

Hang 100 on em arrogance.

Let's beat them on Saturday.  Let's beat them in the playoffs. And beat them in Ann Arbor next year.

God this perfectly captures it. A back and forth rivalry a la the ten year war is one thing. But it turned into what it turned into on the craziest most unlikely repeated things falling into place for them. It’s sickening and enough is enough.

Yeah, they've definitely had the upper hand as of forever, but a lot of that was our fault. Hindsight is 20/20, but Coach Carr should have had a better exit strategy when he left. I don't know how much input he had for his replacement, but that could have gone better. Him advising Mallet to go elsewhere was wrong. He should have advised him to talk to the upcoming coach; I think Ryan would have done great in the offense, with a few adjustments. Coach Rod didn't do himself any favors by sticking to what worked in the past and letting the defense go to rot. Coach Brady simply wasn't the coach we needed, and with Coach Harbaugh there has been some bad luck early on.

But hey, that was then, this is now; we have a chance to turn the tide on the Buckeyes and begin our own period of dominance.

Screw them what's with being so complimentary towards them animals. Their fan base is hateful and insecure just like little bro.I hope we beat them again or die trying like Harbaugh says.

I would really like to vanquish them on Saturday if only to have the opportunity to really, really live rent-free in their heads because we would then be building a streak and it would terrify them after so many years. I don't believe many OSU fans have the emotional maturity or capacity to successfully deal with that either, so hilarity will ensue if we do indeed win.

Conspiracy theorists generally amuse me.  I can't think of a single conspiracy that I believe in.  But when it comes to Ohio State, I take nothing for granted and anything seems possible.  For decades, I've felt that Ohio State wants to win The Game more than Michigan (not saying that Michigan doesn't want to win this game) and they will do anything to win it.  Look at the way Ohio State supporters travel to the Big House versus the way we travel to The Horseshoe (I will grant that they treat us worse there than we do them here.)  Before Tressel did it, I can't remember a coach single out another school in his "introductory" speech (I know that there was a more technical introduction before the basketball game).

Pull fire alarms in the middle of the night before the game in the hotel, record Michigan practices during the week leading up to The Game, subject the team to a bomb search with K-9 units, etc.  A better Wolverine historian than I would have much better examples, and I will admit that my memory has faded and I'm probably biased about all this and maybe mixing up different histories and teams but those seem to linger in my mind for one reason or another.  I'll also admit that maybe this is just a coping mechanism for some brutal losses over the years.

The number of their fans in our stadium is the worst part. I'm watching the 1997 game right now and even that appears to have had a huge percentage of OSU fans. Not the majority (can tell that by the crowd noise) but still, way too many. We really need some kind of concerted effort to limit it to 5% OSU fans next year.

Keep in mind that red stands out visually, more so than blue.  They've had an annoying number of fans in our stadium some fans, but people overestimate how many there actually are.  We definitely had a great homefield advantage last year.

When Michigan is good, OSU fans are like 10-15% of the crowd.  That's not a big deal.  The only way to get it down to 5% would be for Michigan fans to start treating OSU fans like we are treated in Columbus.  That's not worth it.

Yeah, those are good points. Red especially seems to stand out on TV. And I do agree that it's not worth going so far as to treat their fans like shit. That's unnecessary and stains the rivalry. What I wish is that there was more of an effort like you see on this board, where Michigan fans only sell tickets to each other.

2019 felt like 30%. It was awful. My guess is there was a sell-off after the Wisconsin L and another after the PSU L. Not sure what would account for last year, as we were never at any real risk of falling out of contention after we paved Wisconsin. (I.e., it was evident the season was going to be a success after that game, at least to me.)

I think it's patently obvious to anyone who's watched college football and the rivalry for any longer stretch of times that OSU cares about an extra 5% about their team and winning. It's always been that way.

I also think that the fire of their hatred of Michigan never cools down because Michigan projects a message that Michigan people think they're better than them in all matters regardless of what happens on the football field. One could dismiss this easily as a rival's delusion, of course, but there's enough of a ring of truth to it to inspire permanent loathing and resentment instead. So even if they beat us 10 times straight, they'll still want to beat us that 11th time as much as we want to beat them for the 1st time in a decade.

Michigan's posture as the social superior to its rivals is what makes it especially difficult to beat them in athletic competition, an area where the usual advantages of Michigan don't matter as much.

I guess I don't hate the players or even Day that much.... but I really do hate their cooler pooping fans.   Oh, and I  hate Urban a hole fucking lot.

I value history and tradition & respect the rivalry.  The Buckeyes have a talented roster and are a solid team.

That being said, I believe their approach has changed during the time I have witnessed the rivalry. The Buckeyes will do anything to win - and, that includes bending the rules quite a bit.

Coaches who lie to the NCAA do not have my respect.  Players who selected “the University of Ohio State”, or who find attending class “pointless”, because they “didn’t go to OSU to play school”, reflect their character and values.

Coach Hayes must be rolling over in his grave when he sees how the priorities of the program he created (or built upon) have changed.

Character counts, as does doing the right things, and doing them the right way.

We can all make up bullshit like Urban covered up stuff or Bo covered up stuff. Both teams have plenty of arrogance at times. Day saying hang 100 or Harbaugh saying his 3rd base stuff. None if it matters. All that matters is having the kids ready to play on Saturday.  They've done a better job repeatedly for 20 years. If coach Harbaugh gets it done Saturday the tide will turn. If not, I think it's more misery as he continues to bring in better players than we have. Time to do it!
