I'M SORRY! UofM Finished 11th in final Director's Cup finals. I'm here to take my negs.

Mates, I am truly sorry!

I jumped the gun with my earlier post a couple weeks ago, not realizing that the college baseball world series was still going and would affect the final standing.  As such, I promised that if Michigan fell out of the top ten then I would make another post and take my neg beating accordingly.  Unfortunately, I am here to do just that.

You're an absolute monster and need to hand in your U of M fan card immediately! Darn right you'll take your negs. If you were just a human being your mistake would be forgivable but you're a monster. Shame on you!

"Which begs the question..."

Haven't we had the discussion here multiple times on the proper use of "begs the question?"

Only the overly pedantic have a problem, but come on. This is a Michigan blog. The question was, perhaps, raised. Next thing you know, we will allow tolerating prepositions at the end of sentences. This blog is going to:

"You all know where bats come from."  -- Bob Ufer   (he gets a pass on the whole preposition thing)

I might be in the minority here, but I really believe that USC is CF's next superpower after they join the B1G in 2024. They're right in the middle of one of the country's best recruiting areas and the move to our conference will only enhance their status, But, like you said, they need to start playing defense. If they do, watch out

Understanding Directors Cup scoring, an excerpt from Wikipedia.

"

  • NCAA Division I: Counts top 19 sports at each school with the following breakdowns:[4]
    • Four of which must be baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball and women's volleyball
    • The next highest 15 sports scored for each institution, regardless of gender, will be used in the standings (except men's water polo)[a]
    • For FBS Football: the top 25 teams are awarded points based on their final rank in the Coaches Poll. 26th place is considered a tie between every non-ranked bowl winner, and the next available rank is considered a tie between every non-ranked bowl loser."

"The scoring structure has been criticized for several reasons, especially due to the number of sports counted per division. Although the number of sports counted in the scoring is based on the average number of sports sponsored by a team in that division, certain schools offer many more or many fewer sports than that. For example, Stanford's dominance at the Division I level is partially attributable to them sponsoring 36 sports teams (of which 31 are NCAA sports), the most in Division I outside of the Ivy League, which does not grant athletic scholarships, and Ohio State, which sponsors 37 sports teams (of which 32 are NCAA sports). This gives Stanford more opportunities to win titles than most other schools, especially considering that some of the sports Stanford sponsors are not played by very many other schools (5 out of 31 have championship fields under 20 teams), all but guaranteeing a substantial number of points for the few schools that do (NACDA awards significantly fewer points for teams that finish lower than fourth in sports with less competition, but the top four teams (except in 8-team and 4-team bracket sports) always receive 100, 90, 85, and 80 points respectively). It should be noted, however, that Ohio State, which sponsors teams in more NCAA sports than Stanford (5 of which, like Stanford, have championship fields under 20 teams) has never won the Cup."

Everyone makes mistakes.

. . . which gives me gleeful opportunities to judge the crap out of others.

Buuuut. . . I really don't think you're culpable for Michigan's finish.  I ain't gonna neg you for that.

INSTEAD I'll neg you for listing a top ten, and then going eleven deep.  Count!  We go to school, to school, here!

In accordance with your wishes - and the obvious jinx - I negged you.

But then I upvoted you for having the honesty and courage to come back and remind everyone of your stoopid boasting and arrogant remarks, and then ask for a negbang because of it.  Such honor and integrity is rarely seen in the pompously boisterous among us.

I'm hopelessly confused.  Do I neg you for this?  In that case, aren't I acquiescing to your advice?  Giving you want you want would seem to be an affirmation.  On the other hand, if I upvote you, aren't I then ratifying the whole post, in which case, I would be saying that yes, when people make mistakes they should be punished, but my punishment would be an upvote?  Can we just agree that in the future to avoid such self-referential issues we refrain from referring to ourselves in posts?  But, this post referenced myself.  Ahh!  Logic is stupid.

It's insane to me that Stanford keeps figuring out a way to winning this cup despite fielding just awful football and basketball teams more often than not recently.
