The game film looked just like Hudson's HS tape.  I think the light just went on - in terms of game speed and defensive schematics.

While you can't expect this incredible game to be his new baseline - but if he did take a leap, teams are going to have to pick their poison on the front 7 between he, Bush and the DL.

The only weak spot on the defense is the coverage ability of the safeties - I don't think they are bad, just average.  But on this D, that is the only spot opposing OCs can target.

I think the game has certainly slowed down for him the last few weeks for sure. His stat line was not very impressive verse Rutgers because of what brown game planned for them, but he did some really good things like sense, and avoid, the pick route a few times. I think we will see him come on against spread to run teams for a few reasons. One, like you said the light seems to have turned on. Secondly, Don Brown is like Harbaugh in the way that he loves being multiple and giving the offense a bunch of things to look at. With how many young guys getting their first defensive game reps this year, I am sure it took him a few games just to kind of see how he could use guys. With the Hudson being used to blitz more instead of having him more in cover, maybe that is a sign of brown figuring out what he has in his defense for differant situations. Anyways, I would expect him to be used in simular ways verse MD and osu.

Too bad he was not mature enough to handle college as a freshman.  I hope he has grown up since then.

Another bummer is that Dymonte Thomas could be on this team if not for a silly redshirt burn in 2013 on ST.  Nothing was helping us beat PSU but Thomas may have been the difference on a couple of those Lewerke runs against MSU.

This has probably been mentioned in other threads, but they credited Hudson with another TFL after reviewing the tape.  That gives him 7.5 for the game, A NEW MICHIGAN RECORD!

Seemed like Minnesota disregarded him for the most part, while their bland and predictable game plan allowed him to flourish. It will be interested to see how much of a clubbing in RPS Don Brown dished out on Saturday.

I don't think there was anything predictable about Minnesota's game plan.  They couldn't throw so they emptied the playbook.  Several of the plays actually worked the first time, but Brown made sure they didn't work the second time.  This defense is outstanding about recognizing plays they have seen before.

It looks like Brown responded by slanting the whole line and left Hudson as the backside edge guy. He could attack at will on any play away from him and since the d-line often delayed Minnesota's RB, Hudson could sweep in for a TFL.

Also, he was the optioned guy on the run option, Minnesota's O-line left him unblocked, but Minnesota's QB and RB seemed not to be reading him and looking at Bush or McCray.

was that up to that game he was kind of predestrian..

I mean an important clog in the D machine but he played at an above Peppers level

in this game, seriously, a step ahead or quicker than everyone else...

unbelievable game, just outstanding!!

I am looking forward to some reporter starting a question at Don Brown's press conference this week with the premise that Hudson "has no responsibilities" on defense.

Chris Evans and Karan Higdon were named PFF's B1G offensive players of the week and Khaleke was named co defensive player of the week along with the corner from Iowa who destroyed OSU.

Great week for the Michigan boyz. I'm assuming we'll have several guys on the offensive and defensive PFF B1G teams of the week.

Iowa just sat in zone and Barrett just kept throwing it to the Iowa defenders. Well, outside the one handed pick, he had to really work for that one. Lol However, it shows Barrett can not read a zone because Okla frustrated him by running it too. Brown has mixed more zone into the defense this year. Will be interesting if we see more zone against them. Particularly in passing situations.

but basically is on defense. Might even be better in man to man coverage?

Just doesn't do the special teams stuff and play on offense.
