How do you transition away from CFB?

Submitted by MonkeyMan on

As the CFB season, and televised games, wind down, I find myself slightly disoriented again and searching around for new ways to pass a Saturday (Basketball doesn't hold my interest). I just borrowed Season 3 of Gotham from my library so that will keep me buzy a little. I wondered how others here handle the change.

What do you do to transition away from CFB?

Do you welcome the change?

Pickup the NFL playoffs as CFP ends, then spring practice and NCAAB conference tournaments and first round of March Madness. When the NCAA tourney ends...alcohol until August pretty much.

Edit: and I go out and bang a lot of hoors.

Start stocking up and it will get you through until the bowl games. Then get yourself in shape doing p90x3 until you lose 20 lbs. Then starting Memorial Day, drink all summer to prepare for sept 1 kickoff at Notre Dame and repeat.

Easy.  I have been at work from 12-630.  Its not fun but its productive.

Completly unrelated.  Don't become a professor.  Take your PhD and run run run to industry.

As far as sports go, Michigan basketball game twice a week is nice until april when baseball gets started. The frustrating thing about baseball is that I lose all interest in August when football preseason and camps get started. If the world series was in August and baseball didn't have so much trade turnover that make the early parts of the season seem so trivial and the latter parts seem so meaningless for twenty of the thirty mlb teams that would be ideal.

I started binging The Wire on HBO. If you haven’t watched that, there you go. If you have... then you already know. One of the very best TV shows ever made.

Glad I didn’t have HBO back when it was on or everything that came after would have felt flimsy by comparison, maybe with the exception of Breaking Bad. I wouldn’t have stuck with Sons of Anarchy for nearly as long as I did if I’d seen The Wire first.

Every so often the show reminds you that it was set in the early 2000’s but otherwise it feels as fresh and relevant as anything on right now.

I trend toward Netflix and movies it seems until the time changes.  During the remainder of the year I feel guilty watching the TV but during the Winter after CFB it seems ok.  I just finished binging the Punisher and am looking for my next show to provide distraction.

I don't welcome the change. I feel ur pain brotha... movies help me, I try to read or watch tv shows, but that doesn't hold my interest. Mostly I just try to talk with my boys about anything including lookin forward to the next football season even if it's 9 months away...smh.

What he is saying is that the persona you have adopted is transparent and juvenile. He is also saying that if you want to keep posting on this board you should change your name and act like an adult, posting only when you have something legitimate to add to the discussion. I ageee with all of these points.

You are the silliest man I have ever seen, wd. Stop.

Fuck, man. Really. What the fuck? This is a new low, even for you. I'm still just like... wow, man.

The conversations with yourself in other threads, this whole "schtick" you're trying to pull off, it's insane.

You must be terrified. What will your life be without your whole identity as the mega tool WD? I've noticed you are trying to dial back the Black Face routine a bit, but it's too late. You better put this one back in the closet right away you racist tool.

hitting the gym as often as possible getting ready for softball and golf season. Now that I'm retired, I usually take off for Mexico right after the Game although I think I'll meet my son in S.D. for the bowl game before going down this year. I spend roughly six months down there, staying relaxed and getting away from the game except for Mgobolg and when I return the weather is nice, feel like hitting the bars a few times a week and before I know it, kickoff. Really looking forward to '18 because this should really tell us what we'll have going forward.

And I'm not one of those "wait til next year fans" when things don't go perfect. Never expected a perfect season and knew it would took some strange things to hit 10 wins. I just think it'll be Harbaugh dominated team and therefore we'll get a great idea and contrary to some, i liked what i saw last season.

My son just mentioned it would be cool if we got the game there which, i admit, it would be. So i just thought we'd catch the game in S.D. based on nothing more than his statement. If it's in FL, I might do just what you say. FL would not serve my purposes nearly as well as S. Cal.

Well there will be plenty of college football for the next month. I am already locked into Michigan basketball and two games a week is great. That will run thru March and then baseball season and summer.
But I do miss Michigan football already. Seasons seem to go by in the blink of an eye.

I welcome the break from Sports. My life used to just go from bowl game to Red Wings to Tigers to Michigan football again with a smattering of M hockey and basketball in there as well.
Then my kids started getting older and I had to pull back... never from Michigan Football, but definitely from everything else. I’ve got more time now, but I don’t think I’ll go back to where I was. I kind of like the winter/spring time to work out more, watch movies, play board games with the wife/kids and read. Oh, and more video games. I love getting on line with my buddies and playing The Division, Halo, etc.
