Pardon me for counting chickens early, but I am most afraid of UCLA, of UCLA, FSU, and bama, the latter I think can be beaten by shutting down the 3.
UCLA feels like a bit of a flash in the pan team right now; they really were a missed rebound away from losing to MSU, and BYU is a mediocre team that also seemed to have a bad shooting day all around (56% from the FT line feels abnormal for a 73% team usually). And ACU was your typical "we upset a team in the first round but we aren't good" double-digit seed that UCLA could out-athlete. It'll be interesting to see how they look next having to play a team with superior talent.
If UCLA is a flash in the pan, then what the hell is Oregon State? Lightning in a bottle?
UCLA has plenty of talent. They're just missing 1-2 injured players. Also the Pac12 has obviously been underrated, as usual.
Except for the last tournament when they were overrated.
UCLA beat a bottom half B1G MSU team, overrated BYU team and then played Abilene Christian. They got a career game out of Jaquez against BYU and then beat the #85 KenPom team. They're going to get crushed by Bama
BYU lost to Gonzaga by 10 and 11 in their last two meetings with them. They just lost to UCLA by 11.
There you have it then, UCLA=Gonzaga
The transitive property ALWAYS holds true in sports.
At least I provided one data point for my opinion instead of just stating BYU is overrated. Lots of folks thought the PAC-12 was garbage before the tournament started.
The transitive property is not a "data point."
8.7.1Data point? That word doesn’t mean what you think it means. You’re approaching some real Illini logic with this take.
Conference play, sir. BYU was able to mitigate its weaknesses and Gonzaga's strengths. This often happens.
ALWAYS
True. Michigan beat Minnesota who beat Michigan.
Therefore, Michigan > Minnesota > Michigan.
Im not sure UCLA gets crushed by Bama ,if you run Bama off the 3-point line ,they seem to struggle with a half-court set . UCLA has a decent half-court defense I think Bama wins something like 77-71 .But if Bama starts to struggle and starts jacking up 3s,and missing at a high rate .Then i think UCLA could win this one, like 64-60 Its all about the 3s for Bama and they will have an off game at some point from deep
FSU has UM beat on weather...not sure about anything else.
I can confirm this. 75* and sunny here today.
Maybe one other category....
You are right!! If only we had such fantastic hats.
Dayum....
The cross near the navel is all for Jesus. I also would guess these four “served” at a recruiting event. Big givers in Tallahassee
Hey, my daughter is an FSU grad...

Let's not forget Free Shoes.
We match up very well with Fla. St. EXPECT VICTORY.
I have a hunch there will be plenty of content on this throughout the remainder of the week.
That and another Walker Kessler post. Did you know he's transferring?
WHAT?! Please tell me more...
And has anyone heard from Keith Jackson?
What about Keith Jackson? I hope he is doing well.
But are you stoned?
Any word on how will fill the void?
Most will talk about how their length is very disruptive, particularly in back court. They have interior size to match to match hunter and as game time gets closer people will panic, concede the game to FSU (as they had done before with LSU. I have faith. This squad is NOT done yet.
Holy cow, you’re not joking about their length. The 4 guards who play 20+ minutes a game are 6-4, 6-5, 6-6, and 6-9(!). Their center is a 7-1 Serb.
They’re also extremely balanced. 4 players average double-digit points a game and a 5th averages 9.2.
This is a hot take, but I think Dickinson will do better against a bigger center. He's been getting guarded by shorter, quicker guys lately and he has been picking up fouls when he tries to use his size -- and settling for long jump hooks when he can't work his way around the shorter defenders who have leverage on him and quick feet to cut off his post moves.
That and FSU doesn't seem to double the post all that much, which Dickinson handled well against LSU but has struggled with. Hopefully we'll see some parity in how much contact is allowed-- against smaller centers, the refs always let the smaller guy get away with more. In this game he'll always be matched up with a true 5.
I think Michigan found their post-forced corona break/Livers injury footing last night as the game went on. It will be interesting to see what a week of practice does for them. Hoping their momentum is back.
post-forced corona break/Livers injury footing
That is a mouthful.
I mean they are a very good long basketball team that is absolutely going to be a major problem for Mike Smith based off what he's shown this year. If their centers can D up Dickinson without doubling our offense dies, so its a legitimate concern.
More time for Chaundee while either Eli or Mike sits?
Almost like looking in the mirror. Fundamentally sound, very good at both ends of the floor. It should not be track meet like LSU. As Walker and Gray go, so do the Seminoles. I'm sure Juwan will have a plan.
I don't think of FSU as fundamentally sound. They are #256 in the country in turnovers per game, averaging 14.4. For comparison, Michigan is #46 in the country turning it over 11.2 times per game. FSU also commits 3 more fouls per game than UM. Looking in the mirror it is not.
Judging from last night's game (and the last 5 years) the officiating is much more likely to be similar to what FSU is used to than what Michigan is used to. Apparently Chaundee putting his hand in a shooter's face is a foul outside the Big Ten. Could partially explain the foul discrepancy.
There will definitely be a lot of factors at play.
Well, yes and no.
Fair.
It depends
Bold talk but time will tell
If we're good in all phases, I like our chances.
