Respectfully, their best song is "Runaways"
January 28th, 2022 at 2:08 PM ^
Respectfully, nothing will ever best "Read My Mind". ATTTID comes damn close, but nope.
January 28th, 2022 at 2:31 PM ^
Then die a bloody death, because their best song is "Read My Mind." Prepare for battle.

1) Wonderful Wonderful
2) The Man
3) everything else

I am glad I'm not the only person on this board who's thought that having the Killers play at Michigan Stadium would be awesome. It would be an incredible long shot, but I would love to see the Killers close for Michigan's spring game.
Unfortunately, the Killers released an album last summer and are kicking off a major tour in late April. Their schedule is insane. It looks like they are playing pretty much every other day from April through December. However, they do close the American portion of their tour on October 8 in Detroit and have a few weeks off before heading to New Zealand. I'm just saying, Michigan Stadium is right down the road...
January 28th, 2022 at 12:20 PM ^
I support this idea.
January 28th, 2022 at 6:55 PM ^
the next weekend Michigan plays Penn State. Likely to be the UTL game for the season?
January 28th, 2022 at 12:27 PM ^
Try giving them money.
January 28th, 2022 at 12:33 PM ^
About tree fiddy?
January 28th, 2022 at 12:31 PM ^
Pay them like a 5* recruit.
January 28th, 2022 at 12:33 PM ^
Now your talking Bezos type money
January 28th, 2022 at 12:37 PM ^
The Killers are a four-piece band, so you'd have to pay them like four five-star recruits. If we're using the Texas A&M payscale, that's going to add up in a hurry. If we're using the Michigan payscale, I've can probably cover it from the spare change in my couch cushions.

I'm not downvoting you - but this might be the crankiest comment ever to a question about a non-football, non-political post!
January 28th, 2022 at 12:51 PM ^
Frankly, I shocked myself with the amount of curmudgeonliness I stuffed into that comment.
January 28th, 2022 at 1:02 PM ^
I plus one you for efficiency of negativity!
January 28th, 2022 at 12:38 PM ^
I think it's a great idea. I plan to get to one game at Ann Arbor next year. I'd pick the game they played at.
January 28th, 2022 at 12:50 PM ^
you just know rgard plans on crashing the gig:

I wish I could play bass guitar. Former trombonist here.
January 28th, 2022 at 12:45 PM ^
thats not gona be our theme song forever is it? I've always thought we should play a song (with lyrics on the board) to a song every week that people know. Unlike wisky which gets them into a frenzy, we make it a "good time" song... that everyone enjoys. Our crowd isnt the "frenzy" type. We did the Journey thing, now the Killers. But... i want to go a bit old school. Get the old heads up and singing too (i guess im kinda one of those now). Announce it the week before, people can play it to death and then everyone sings it that weekend
All Night Long - Lionel Ritchie
pour some sugar on me - Def Leppard
Livin on a Prayer - Bon Jovi
We will rock you - Queen
Aint no mountain high enough - Marvin Gaye
January 28th, 2022 at 12:52 PM ^
All night long is an absolute banger
January 28th, 2022 at 1:01 PM ^
Honestly - my original idea was to play that after the 3rd quarter EVERY game, but then i figured maybe it gets stale. But as far as a crowd sing-along, the place would go nuts. If it was a night game? Money!
January 28th, 2022 at 1:17 PM ^
I've always enjoyed Renegade played at Steelers home games when the result is not in doubt.
January 28th, 2022 at 3:47 PM ^
Mr Brightside is about a guy torturing himself by imagining the worst case scenario where his love is stolen away by a rival in the most dispiriting and humiliating way possible - if that doesn't capture Michigan fan zeitgeist, what does?
January 28th, 2022 at 12:50 PM ^
They would for sure - they do private shows in small venues all the time - its more likely the school or the town who would stop this for reasonably obvious reasons - sadly
January 28th, 2022 at 12:54 PM ^
If they did it as a combined spring game with a Killers concert afterwards they could probably sell pretty pricey tickets to it which would pay the band for their performance.
Not sure if the crossover between people who want to see the spring game and people who like the Killers is enough though. Plus there would be no time to setup, and rock concerts generally have a huge amount of setup involved
January 28th, 2022 at 1:28 PM ^
The Killers are a great band....However, Mr. Brightside is a terrible song for a Michigan game, please make it stop.
January 28th, 2022 at 5:49 PM ^
It is awesome.
That is all.
January 28th, 2022 at 1:39 PM ^
We gotta take this to Twitter.
January 28th, 2022 at 2:11 PM ^
I bet money would get them there. Call me crazy but paying a band an enormous amount of money will get them to play anywhere. If you meet there money demands they would probably play in your backyard.
January 28th, 2022 at 5:56 PM ^
My company got us a private face to face concert with Imagine Dragons immediately after their Grammy award and SNL appearance in 2014, by paying them.
It also helped that it was at a convention in South Beach in February.
Most of the crowd did not even know who they were. A woman texted her daughter to tell her who this mystery band was. The daughter's comment: "You have no idea how big this is."
They could have gone all rock star attitude on us corporate dweebs, but they were cool about it. They said the small venue with a handful of people reminded them of when they were starting out in Las Vegas. They even played a couple of '80 cover tunes for the old people.
January 28th, 2022 at 2:24 PM ^
i know we can't edit posts, but switch out "how do we" to "should we" and you got yerself a non-crappy post.
i'd also point out that betteridge's law of headlines (link) applies, either way.
January 28th, 2022 at 2:24 PM ^
This seems like such a Dave Brandon idea.
January 28th, 2022 at 2:47 PM ^
Dave Brandon would get a band that hadn't had a album anyone had heard of in 30 years to play. The Killers may not be the latest hotness anymore but at least they are still relevant.
January 28th, 2022 at 3:44 PM ^
I like The Killers alright. I was more kind of eluding to his "every game as Michigan should feel like the Superbowl" pipedream.
January 28th, 2022 at 3:43 PM ^
Dave Brandon would've had Rich Rod sing Josh Groban songs...
January 28th, 2022 at 3:46 PM ^
Lol imagine kicking off to You Raise Me Up every home game?
January 28th, 2022 at 6:58 PM ^
all he could do is get Beyonce to send a message on the big screen.
January 28th, 2022 at 2:38 PM ^
100,000 people aren't going to show up. I think you would be lucky to get 30,000. 70,000 empty seats wont look great
January 28th, 2022 at 2:48 PM ^
Prior to the B1G schedule change, Michigan was to play at home against Penn State on October 8, 2022; and Detroit was also the last U.S. tour stop of The Killers on that same date. However, with the new schedule change, Michigan is now at Indiana on 10/8.
January 28th, 2022 at 2:53 PM ^
The Killers couldn't fill a third of Michigan's stadium.
January 28th, 2022 at 2:55 PM ^
When I was in MMB in the 80s we had some celebrity from Earth, Wind, and Fire guest direct the band for one of their numbers. Way past his prime and it was still nearly impossible to get him to come. 110k is not an attraction for stars in their prime. I would love to see the Killers at Michigan Stadium, but no, it is just a dream. It will not happen. Sorry for the cold dose of reality.
Edit: maybe in 20 years
January 28th, 2022 at 3:31 PM ^
I believe the correct answer is: Practice, practice, practice.
Or am I thinking of something else?

How do youget The Killers to play the largest football stadium in the US? Maybe get them to open for U2? Taylor Swift?

Lots and lots of dollars
