Hoke Post-game presser

Submitted by MgoBlueprint on

This is the most distant and detached Hoke has been during his tenure in A2, maybe its because hes now fully aware that "he gone".

What the most struck me as especially odd during the press conference was when someone asked him about Delano Hill. Hoke just gave an awkward series of "yes" and "no's" to the questions about Delano. I think the reporter asked if he was injured or hurt a few different ways. Hoke repeatedly responded with "yes" and "now" before giving way to an awkward smile that keeping from saying something that he may have wanted to.

It was just weird. Did anyone else notice that?

Most of the players will be fine I just feel bad for the seniors. They didn't get to enjoy a great end to their career

Well at least he can wipe those tears away with the MILLIONS OF DOLLARS he stole from the University.

He'll be fine, stop feeling bad for someone that is set for life.

First off he didn't steal anything. This is coaching nowadays. Is he sad sure he is this was his dream job no doubts there. But he knows he's canned I am now confident they will fire him or let him finish the season in a announcement on Monday

Whatever you say chief.  You actually thought a win against a shitty Maryland team was going to save his job?

Also he pretty much got paid big money for being a mid-level MAC coach.  I guess that was hard work that earned him one of the biggest coaching pay checks in the NCAA.

Well, it still isn't stealing unless you were being a bit overdramatic regarding the salary which is merely a function of the contract between both him and the university. In that case, you can discuss how you feel he is overpaid perhaps, but to say that it is stealing ignores a lot of sundry details, in my opinion. If you are interested, I don't think most people here would have thought that a win over Maryland was going to save Hoke, but there is really no need to go overboard here.

I hate seeing Michigan being shitty every week.  They play with very little voractiy (save some players), make stupid errors, and it never changes (this is a result of poor coaching).  I think that discussion has already been thoroughly wrung the ringer on this blog.  I just don't know why people are sad for him.  Most of us aren't even given a shot at our dream job making the amount of cash he brought in, let alone doing it with a sub-par resume.

Bottom line, don't be sad.  He's leaving AA with a boat load of cash and experience coaching at a big time Uni for what it seems (on paper anyways) very little effort.

Did Brady and his kids get multiple mgoblog accounts?  Seriously quite a few comments above that were pretty spot on and not dickish got really negged?

Must be osu trolls who are pissed he is gone.

I might hurt Hokes feelings.  He has bigger problems than what some asshole says about him on a blog.

Neg me all you want, all I was saying is he has millions of other reasons why he'll be fine.  I wish I got fired from a job with millions of dollars in my bank roll.

Get off your high horse bro.

EDIT: Spelling is hard.

Come on. Some are dickish, but they're the same comments people have been making here for years and getting upvoted like mad. All of a sudden everyone feels bad for Hoke because now everyone's 100% sure he's gone so anyone who doesn't talk about poor Hoke is getting negged. I agree a lot of people have been dicks, but the moral righteousness in this thread is ridiculous.

There are only a few comments getting heavily downvoted here.  One calls Hoke "Bardy Flinstone" and says he doesn't care about the program because he didn't resign last year, another says he doesn't deserve to have his name associated with us, and a third says that he stole millions from the University. That kind of idiocy has never been upvoted here.

Yes, people are expressing a little sympathy for someone who is visibly crushed after a major failure.  You can call that moral righteousness if you like, but I think it's just being a decent human.

Ok so if you were offered tons of money for something you were selling that you knew you didnt deserve in the first place, especially from someone or something you "love", you wouldnt feel at the very least a bit guilty or dirty about it? If not, then dont preach about dickish comments on a blog where many people come to post their opinions.

Eh, you may be right. But even a guy saying he didn't feel bad for Hoke was getting negged significantly. I do think people are going overboard feeling sorry for Hoke though, and I guess that's what's annoying me.

EDIT: Actually I checked and that guy said steal 10 million instead of make 10 million. Guess I read that wrong lol.

In other news Zona beat Utah in Utah 42-10 anyone still think RR is a bad coach 1 more win and he wins the PAC-12 south

I was being facetious but let's not give him a chance to get to that point....

Amazing how much of an outlier that 11-2 season is...and if you took it away, and gave him one more season at his current trajectory (assume 3-9) he would be right in line with RRod.

We need a clean slate from top to bottom - everything must go!

don't remember the darkness of those years. Six of the last seven have been frustrating and several even embarrassing to the program. No one in Maize & Blue can feel good about Rich or Brady. Both failed to win enough, regardless of the underlying factors. If the UM fans cannot agree that both regimes missed the mark, then we have deeper issues. So ... who is going to restore the program?

Probably has a little to do with the fact he actually has "his" DC from WVU? He is the only one on this god forsaken earth that understands how to run the 3-3-5 defense! Michigan's own arrogance is why we are here now. When a coach wins everywhere but here, it might be time to look in the mirror!

Fuck that, he could have run any other scheme he wanted, but he decided to fit a square peg into a round hole and it caused his demise here.  I'm glad he figured out defense is important, but would have been nice for him to figure it out here.  Also Let's remember his close wins against terrible Cal, Washington, and UTSA teams and complete ownage by UCLA before we get too far down the "Might have been [path"  he failed here(some of it wasn;t his fault, but a lot of it was)  Get over it.

HORRIBLE. As Leonhall says below: worse record than Hoke. &, more importantly: eyeball test--we were BAD. The mistake some are making now is that, because we are somehow EVEN WORSE now, that means we should've stuck with BAD! That's just stupid. We had to try to get a better coach for us, for here, which means: to win, not to rack up yards and fumbles at almost equal pace. Glad RR's new team is doing well, but here he failed. Badly. We need to try again.

The only presser I've ever seen that was more disturbing was Bud Dwyer's.  As a person I hope that Hoke is OK.  He obviously had been weeping.

However, I would have much more respect for him if he announced his resignation.  The extra $$ he stands to gain by staying on cannot be worth his dignity at this point.

I'm sick of it... people blaming Hoke for everything. He is a coach and a human, he will make mistakes. Yes, he isnt a great coach and yes he does make to many mistakes, but really guys? What about Doug? He is 2x as bad, does NOTHING for offense, and he could be the problem. I dont like Hoke, but im tired of people eating him alive for every small mistake he makes, grow up. (I'm the 14 year old)
