Per his Twitter, JT Daniels to Make an Announcement at 8 pm

Submitted by MGoVoldemort on
Per his Twitter, JT Daniels is making a recruiting related announcement tonight at 8 pm. This may sound like advantageous timing given his visit this weekend, but there have been a couple recent SC Crystal ball picks for him, and the SC people seem confident. But as always, never count Harbaugh out of ANYTHING.

to know whether this is just a "I've narrowed my choices down to these 3 schools" or an actual commitment, or something else.  I guess we'll find out at 8.  Whatever he announces, I hope it's in our favor.

Potential starter one day if he does commit. The one thing I don't understand is with Joe Milton and Dylan McCaffrey already in the fold, why wouldnt we hold off on going after a QB until at least 2020? GO Blue

Haha what? Because nobody is a sure thing and Milton is a project. JH wanted to take two in this class let alone just a project. If we get JT or another huge 2019 guy we may only take Milton even with tight numbers. This kind of thinking and banking on a single guy (Shane Morris) by the Hoke staff is what got us in QB trouble in the first place.

So apparently Wiltfong and Trieu are both saying USC.

So he's not a fan of BBQ I guess? Odd after the totally glowing interviews that came out this morning on the pay sites. If he was solid USC by this morning you'd think they'd have been more circumspect.

As timing, one of the credible theories I'm hearing is that he was all USC coming into the weekend & only went to the BBQ as a favor to his dad who is a huge Michigan fan. Once he confirmed to his dad that USC was still his school after giving Michigan a look, he just wants to shut down the recruitment.

Depth chart at USC is favorable for him and it is his home town school. Bummer.

Upside is he isn't pulling a Najee. It allows us to move on quickly for a different 2019 QB prospect. As much as I'd love to have him, it's still a position of strength for us in 2019. The year we will really need a star QB is 2020 or so.

I dont like the looks of this.

He JUST visited Michigan. I dont think he could make a decision to commit to Michigan so quick after visiting one time. A kid smart enough to go to Stanford isnt going to make quick decisions.

hope im wrong

Outside of BRADY and Manning would be difficult since they've been to so many Super Bowls. I would go in the other direction, show me a mobile QB that has won a Super Bowl. Joe Flacco, Drew Bree's, and Eli Manning are statues unless they have suddenly upped their 40 times. Aaron Rodgers is the only semi-mobile QB I can remember winning one.

I'm more interested in college football. Do you honestly say that statue QBs are having more success than mobile QBs that can throw? Hell JT Barrett can't even throw and we can't beat him.

If you think us beating them in '11 was all about Denard and not as much about Luke Fickell coaching a 6-6 team you're kidding yourself. We haven't had as much talent as them since the mid '00s and certainly nowhere near their level of coaching. Now both of those things are swinging back to normal levels for us and we'll see how it goes the next 5-10 years.

17 - QB Watson - threw for 420 yards

16 - Coker - threw for 335 yards

15 - C Jones - not a runner

14 - WInston - not a runner

13 - AJ McCarron - not a runner

some mobility?  sure

but if you cannot throw the ball forget it

No, the fact remains that the only time we've beaten OSU in the last 15 years is a year where they were under NCAA investigation, with an interim coach, and with a freshman QB pressed into starting after the suspension of their starting QB.
