A little conflicted on this. Love the confidence of the team and love the enthusiasm from Blake and the leadership of the team going forward but my BPONE always acts up when I see stuff like this. Revenge Tour and the TCU smash fest comments come to mind and how guarantees only raises expectations and pressure. Either way, looks like we’re going all in on 2023. Betting everything on the next hand.
Let’s hope it pays off.

I don't mind the confidence, I don't think they will win it, but I hope the team thinks they can.

I really hate when we set high expectations publicly. Puts a bigger cross hair on our already targeted backs, and also generally leads to tight play. I'll bet that Michigan underperforms against the spread a lot next year, but it really all comes down to if JJ can make another leap to cut down the occasional crazy throws of which there were a solid 6-7 last year.

I really like Blake's confidence. And I like our chances at winning the whole thing as well. But unexpected, unwanted and/or stupid things can happen. That's just life. So I temper my expectations.

Stop being a pussy. Forever fans have been complaining about big ten first, bowl games whatever. We are now clearly stating what people have been whining about for decades. National championship or bust.

a little quibble but he didn't "guarantee" a natty. He just said that we're winning it. Same same but different. Guarantee has a level of cockiness. Saying we're winning it seems like a better balance.

Love Blake. Total gamer and baller. Our best player and mvp last year. Significant part of the beautiful heart and soul of the team. Hope he has another great year If he keeps improving like has been, wow ! Even if he repeats last years performance on the field, wow !

"guarantee" seems a bit much for what he said.
I suppose he could have said "we're going to try but will probably fall short". Would that have been more acceptable?
Personally I agree that Michigan is goig to win it all. Our time has come.

I have no problem with the confidence the team should have heading into the season. I just wished they took that next step and won their first playoff game against a team they should have beat. That would have been great for the program all around.
Anyway, this is their year to get it done but anything short of going to the NC would be a letdown.

Joe Namath created the "Guarantee" - and famously backed it up.
Since then, desperate newspaper writers, with little to add to the discussion, are always looking to find a "guarantee" and then use it to drum up readership. It is - in short - dumb and lame.
Contrast these newspaper folks to the type of in-depth coverage you get at MGoBlog. It's amazing that for so long, all we read was crap.
