Can't see a RB coach striving to be passing game coordinator.... maybe assistant head coach?

My completely uninformed opinion is that he's more likely than not just kicking tires and possibly using it as leverage to help negotiate his contract (which is expired) at UM.  Even if offered the job I think he'd realize it's not very good timing.  1) His son is at UM  and 2) it'd be tough taking over when WMU is coming off their best season ever and they lost an energetic, lovable young coach, whereas he'd be coming over from the "big boys"....expectations would be unreasonably high and he'd almost certainly disappoint early on.  Might cost him an opportunity for a better HC gig down the road.

I remember reading that Georgia was negative recruiting Michigan on coaching stability. Pep will not only continue top-level coaching for Michigan WRs and passing scheme, but his hire should render that recruiting angle ineffective.

I think this goes on at all the top programs, Coaches have goals too. I am sure the kids realize this, or at least hope to think they do. Then again, why wouldnt you want to be around Coaches that have lofty goals. I would. Anyway, February 1st can't get here soon enough.

Will work with QB and WRs as well per release. Wonder which way Harbaugh will go with the 10th assistant coach that is expected to pass in April. I am assuming it will be someone currently on staff as an analyst. It would probably be pretty hard to hire someone in April.

and give them lesser positions at Michigan next season. Seems unlikely though. I think Roman was coming as Drevno's replacement if needed, not otherwise.

I would not be surprised for the 10th coach to be a recruiting specialist. I don't know if we already have a good candidate on the support staff. It would have been a nice spot for Tuioti.

...wouldn't be a legitimate candidate for this blue-sky musing about adding to the staff?  Maybe in the Football Operations category like Biff Poggi (since DL coach and Linebackers coach are currently very well-manned!); that might not even count aginast the 10?

Maybe in the very short run he could yet flip DT/NT Rutger Reitmaier, whom Brady recruited at -- and got to commit to -- Oregon, and long-term I think most here agree Brady is an excellent judge, finder and recruiter of DL talent specifcally (and D talent broadly), and would (as he did) convincingly pitch U-M to recruits with passion and sincerity.

JH made a specific point to thank Brady & his wife Laura at JH's opening address, for the foundation they built at Michigan football.  Hoke bleeds Maize and Blue, would have no desire to upset apple carts for personal career ambition or petty rivalry, and has no(?) political toxicity among U-M factions (unlike Les); Brady's only crime was to accept his dream job (from DB, who's long gone) and sadly prove to be simply in over his head at the P5 HC level.

So remind me of the obvious I'm overlooking (or unaware of)... why not?

Mistakes like Hoke made with Morris don't usually cost people their jobs. Would he have been fired if that was his 11 win season? There was a lot of blame to go around. In my view, Brandon was more at fault for not having good procedures in place. I think he actively tried to make Hoke look worse in the aftermath too.

I think it's a bit awkward to bring a former coach back while his former players are still around. If Harbaugh thinks it's a good idea, I wouldn't argue. They can handle the PR work needed to sell it to the fans. Hoke as a DL coach and recruiter would be an asset. to any team.
