Congrats to Jim and Sarah!

Arriving early, weighing in at 4 lb 13 oz, with an 18 in wing span, our newest Wolverine teammate, John Harbaugh. Precious... God is good...

Got damn it you beat me to the exact same thread title except I wasn't going to use the not that part. On TKA Marcus just said he'll be Harbaugh's first recruit in Harbaugh's last year, 2035. Big time qb, early enrollee, coming in from Pioneer. haha.

Things Jim Harbaugh and I have in common:

  1. Our fathers both call themselves Jack.
  2. Our fathers both have sons named John.
  3. We both have sons named John.
  4. We both had a kid this week. Mine checked in at 9 lbs, 9 oz, so she can totally beat up Jim's kid, unless little John is already capable of attacking with enthusiasm unknown to mankind. In that case, my girl is screwed, because she's not enthusiastic about anything except eating, pooping, and sleeping.
  5. Oh yeah: we both bleed Maize and Blue!

Congrats to Sarah and Jim! There's nothing like the love you feel for your newborn child!

GO BLUE!!

Man, I miss the baby times.. The times when you can't really believe what's going on, and you're so friggin exhausted--then you fall asleep on the sofa with a baby also sleeping on your chest. I think that is my favorite thing in the entire world. Then 13 years later, your twin daughters are like strange foreigners and you have no idea when that switch went off..... Enjoy the journey!

totally hear you MGoBrewMom.  I miss those days of baby/toddler falling asleep on you.

Got two alien beings now, 14 and 19.  I try to tell them how cute they were way back when... how they used to LIKE to hear me sing...

I actually still sing to them...except its usually something really awesome like a disco song. I went from them sleeping on me, to finding new and improved ways to embarrass them. Fun times.

Small to start, but he's only 3 weeks early. I think one of the biggest things is getting good lung development. I can't remember the timing, but I think he's probably pretty far beyond that threshold. He will get great care and put on a lb or 2 in a couple weeks..then he will be on his way!

My kid was 4 weeks early, and barely considered premature.  But he did need a shot of surfactin to get his lungs to open up.  Spent 12 hours with a ventilator stuck down his throat.  I hope Little John didn't have to go through that, mostly because its harder on mom and dad than the kid.

Congrats to the Harbaugh's!!!

As a totally anecdotal point of reference, my first kids (twins) were delivered by C-section at 35 weeks and 6 days, pretty close to little John Harbaugh's gestational age. One of my twins (also a John!) was 4 lbs, 15 oz, so pretty close to Jim's new boy. They spent only 10 hours in the NICU as a very minor precaution and left the hospital with us after just a couple days. Nearly three years later, they're doing great. You'd have no idea they were premies. So happily, I concur: there's no reason to think little John shouldn't be perfectly healthy! :D
