i'm happy about it.  an NFL OC coming to coach WR?  that's amazing.  the offense is the last thing i'm worried about.  badass oline coach and pro WR coach is icing on the cake; jimmy is going to call the plays.

Miami (YTM) is my second team so I've followed them closely while he was there. Interception prone Jacory Harris and Stephen Morris were pretty successful under 2011-2012

CMP ATT  YDS  CMP% YDS/A TD INT RAT

Jacory Harris  195   300    2486   65.0      8.29      20   9 150.6

Stephen Morris 245  421   3345    58.2     7.95      21   7 138.1

He also had Lamar Miller (who's been pretty good in the NFL) run for about 1200 yards. Duke Johnson ran for 947 yards with 10 TDs his freshman season under Fisch and would have easily gotten over 1,000 if not for injuries. 3 receivers from Miami's 2011 season got drafted or played in the NFL: Tommy Streater, Allen Hurns, Travis Benjamin.

Yeah, I'm not sure how it will work out, but the staff is looking a lot like Harbaugh's at Stanford.  I've been looking back and he had a WR/QB coach, an OC/RB coach, a Tackles/TE/Associate HC/Run game coordinator, an OL with emphasis on C/G coach, plus Harbaugh all in 2010.  So, I guess what ever works for him I suppose.

I found this interesting. Especially the part about his "no huddle concepts"

"Similar to what we've heard coming out of OTAs, this is a very up-tempo, fast-paced offense. Miami rarely huddles during the first half of games. The play ends, they make their substitutions, the players look to the sideline to get the play, and they're snapping the ball quickly. The tempo made it difficult for the TV broadcasts to show replays (concurrently making it hard for me to get a feel for the route combinations), but I noticed a few concepts repeated throughout the four games."

I know Durkin is from Ohio, so is JH. Mattison is from Ohio as well. Do our new coaches have enough foot prints to cover the main recruiting areas? It looks like we are "west" oriented.

One thing is certain, we won't be the last 10 teams in scoring coming next season.

Greg Jackson has Louisiana roots. Durkin coached in the SEC, and Fisch in the ACC. The Stanford/San Fran guys have the west covered. You've mentioned the Midwest guys (yes, I know I'm double dipping with coaches and their experience but that's a good thing!) The area that doesn't seem to be covered specifically (so far as I know) is Texas and the upper east coast.

From his time coaching at A&M. Not sure about anybody else on the new staff.

I'd love for us to make more of an effort recruiting Texas; we've had some good players from there (e.g., Jarrett Irons). But between UT and A&M and the recent good runs of TCU and Baylor, plus cross-border options in Oklahoma and LSU, it is damn hard to pull kids far away from that state. And the last three Texans at Michigan that I can remember -- Daryl Stonum, Stephen Hopkins, and Sam McGuffie -- all flamed out in various ways and didn't finish here.

He'll coach them, but it is important to have someone else working with the QBs when the head coach is well being the head coach - not only on practice but more importantly in games when Harbaugh can't go over and talk to the QB.

Long time reader and just made an accout so we can relish on the revial of the mighty MICHIGAN WOLVERINES. My wife is a DIEHARD Miami (YTM) fan 3rd gen season ticket holder and she sent me this link for "officlal Miami bio" on Jed. From everything the Cane fans say he is a QB whisperer and reading the article he did damn good under a crappy HC. Read and enjoy and i hope we have the same...better sucess with him.

FWIW, I have known Jedd since we were both kids in NJ (though I'm 6 years older and was closer in age to his brother). He's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Even though he's well-traveled, he will do really well for Michigan and the players will definitely like him - very relatable guy. Congrats to Jedd and congrats to us on such a great hire!
