Hopefully Frey brings that snake oil with him from Indiana, they could run the ball on anyone in the big 10 the past few years, with less talented kids than the opposition. And I wouldn't be worried with the Jay move to RB coach, he'll be fine

Frey is a great hire. Not sure about JayBaugh coaching RBs. He's surrounded by a ton of experienced coaches that will all offer input, so I'm hoping he does well.

I have faith in him. He's been around coaching since 2008. Been on an actual coaching staff  since 2012. At the NFL and NCAA level. Held various jobs. Is a Harbaugh, so you know he throws himself 1000% into whatever he is doing.

Where has he underperformed vs his peers? And you have to think his poor standing in the recruiter rankings is due to him not being out there as much or something. The names he has pullled in or was at least involved in are pretty good ones...

Primary Recruiter for:
Devin Asiasi
Tarik Black
Tyrone Wheatley Jr.
Nick Eubanks
Sean McKeon

Secondary Recruiter for:
Dylan McCaffery
O'Maury Samuels
Joel Honigford

As a fan base I think we still get skeptical hippo from when the previous staffs have hired people.  Jay is still a good recruiter, and seems to be very bright.  I'm not worried about him making the change to RB coach just because of how strong the overall staff is, and he'll get any and all support he needs.

of experience under the master, and Jim is making sure he is surrounded by other great coaches.  Jay will be the HC at Michigan one day, watch and see.

Indiana's OL has definitely been a bright spot for them under Frey, so I am rather excited to see what he might be able to do here.

I wondered when it was announced that he was in Ann Arbor if we were close and this might be a formality because I can't remember any other names really coming up.

1. He is familiar with the offense of Kevin Wilson / OSU's newest OC hire

2. Our OL has shown a deficiency in "tempo" situations

and 3. Because Harbaugh hired him, duh!!

I really like this hire.  Frey turned Molk, Lewan and Schofield into very good to great college linemen and their skills translated nicely to the NFL as well.  I thought he was more of a spread offense coach but IMO a good OL coach is a good OL coach no matter the blocking scheme.  I think Michigan will benefit with him on the staff.
