Hes more of a pure pass rusher like Uche than he is like Kwity. Kwity will be a senior next year, recruiting an incoming freshman has pretty much nothing to do with a possible junior leaving. Recruiting is done further in advance.

if you’re recruiting to fill next season’s holes, you’re failing as a coach. You recruit to fill holes 2-3 years down the line.

Well the last one was 15 years ago.  You may remember some coaching changes after that period, and maybe like 10 years there where Michigan was not a Top 10 program.

Then Harbaugh came and Michigan was once again a Top 10 program.  Unfortunately the vacuum in Ann Arbor for nearly a decade allowed our enemy to the south free reign in the region.  They took ample advantage, and have been at Top 3 levels of Death Star -ness in that period.  Hard to win a title with them and another Top 10 program in PSU residing in your own 7 team division.

You can either celebrate the wins for a while until they figure out how to get the ring into Mordor, or you can Unacceptable all day long.  The choice is yours.

Honest question: is that going to get it done in the Big Ten where you face the ground-and-pound meat slab that is Wisconsin, Iowa or (to much lesser extent) Minnesota each season?

I'll trust DB as an X and Os guy for now but I'm honestly just wondering if going to a smaller yet more speedy 3-3-5 or 3-4 gets it done in those games.  I guess I can see the 3-4 if you have a massive man in the middle to potentially take 1-2 blocks right? Isn't this why / how the Pats and Steelers have been successful with it for so long?

Ultimately, I just never want to see a linebacker like Glasgow lining up, hand in the dirt on goal-line vs Wiscy ever again.

Welcome aboard to this young man!

People keep bringing up Wisconsin as if they are always going to have Taylor in the backfield.  Michigan played Wisconsin last year and held Taylor mostly in check and gave up 2 long-ish runs to everyone else, and that was with a bunch of NFL-caliber offensive linemen.  They held them to about 3 ypc in 2016 and that was with a Glasgow and Hurst in the middle, so not planets.  A good scheme can beat teams like Wisconsin, as can a competent offense.  What hurt Michigan against Wisconsin most this year was that Michigan turned the ball over a bunch and Jack Coan ran for 2 TDs and was 13/16 for like 10 FDs.

yeah i wanted them to land powell too.  hes clearly more explosive and a better pass rush prospect than harrell.  the staff heavily pursued powell early on and seemed like he was the priority at that spot - then i think they stopped recruiting powell for some reason so they mustve unearthed something.

not to disparage harrell as hes a nice prospect and the staff obviously likes his potential.  powells get off and closing burst just jumped out as traits brown would seem to covet
