Hate Week
Not sure how many of these have been posted yet or if we have an official Hate Week post yet, but I haven't seen anything posted today, nor anything pinned to the top of the board.
I will start with a few things that are disgusting about the Sharty program...Feel free to vent as you wish.
1) Delusion - Apparently, the rivalry began when Dantonino took the job in East Landfill and all their prior incompetence and futility and the years of UM generally winning 3 of 4, or 4 of 5 have been forgotten.
2) Little Brother - We can post so much here. The flukish wins (Spartan Bob), Punt 6, 7/7 replay reviews last year, including an overturned TD, Tripping Desmond on the 2 point conversion etc, etc. They celebrate these victories as if earned and completely deserved, which makes the losses that much more intolerable.
3) Desperation - Giving a career .500 coach a $95mm contract and for 2 wins over UM (one in a Covid year). The absolute definition of desperate to be relevant and little brother. Cliches, cigars, Cuck Tryin', etc. A "horse shit" coach and somehow they have gone from "building" to a "rebuilding" narrative.
4) 1 Game Season - UM is all they have. While OSU has been beating us like a drum for the past two decades, it was our own admin and hiring mistakes that brought about the self-destruction of our program. Losing to OSU sucks, but they were and are a legitimate rival and foe - to be respected and hated. Sharty is a crap local program with an inferiority complex that cares about 1 game a year, anything else is gravy for them. Their only success comes when the UM program steps on its own dicks. I hate but respect OSU. Sharty is just a pest.
Feel free to add your own.
Go Blue!

Sparty can kiss my ass.

I actually don’t understand the hate for Sparty or even their hate for Michigan.
I mean, I recall those days when we’d drive up to East Lansing and go to a few parties. Those State girls were really friendly and they seemed to appreciate whenever a Michigan guy came to town. There certainly wasn’t any hate from either side.
And I guess I can understand if some Sparty boys would get jealous. We do have the best stadium, the best fight song, the best colors and helmets, the best college town, the best team in the history of football, oh and the best education. But why hate. That should be admiration. And we in turn should take them under our wing. Like a little brother.

I used to feel this way, but the staee fans that I know have been so obnoxious over the past 10 years or so that I have no patience for them. Now when I see them and ask about this year's game they just say "I've already written them off this year". I watch their games just to see them lose.
October 24th, 2022 at 10:32 AM ^
Agreed. It's really been the last 10 years or so - the Dantonio/Hollis/Izzo era. Izzo started the chip on shoulder thing, Dantonio honed it further, and Hollis let anything go as the price of winning some games. I used to be more supportive of state when not playing Michigan, but those clowns changed that view for me. Now I take some enjoyment in seeing them flounder and lose. Go Blue! Win with cruelty.
October 24th, 2022 at 6:17 AM ^
Just win the game and move 1 game closer to Bucky. That is all. The rest is just noise from Sparty.

The fact that this is a night game over PSU OSU makes zero sense.

While I agree that's the most famous "tuck" of all time, it should be made clear that Buffalo Bill was a Buckeye (as the term applies to all Ohioans).

Buck tuck comin’?
October 23rd, 2022 at 11:25 PM ^
Don’t be conservative. Score enough to put in the reserves midway through the 3rd. Pummel them into submission via ground and air
October 24th, 2022 at 6:02 AM ^
^^^This. I want to see JJ and Corum resting on the sidelines in the 2nd half while Davis Warren throws TD passes to Honigford and Loveland, and Stokes goes over 100 yards. I want UM to be able to shrug and say, "Hey, we put in our second team. What more do you want?"
October 24th, 2022 at 6:11 AM ^
I want to curbstomp those fucks.

October 24th, 2022 at 7:40 AM ^
They have earned it.
October 24th, 2022 at 8:40 AM ^
Get the big lead on starters on the sideline so we don't get a second half full of their normal "unnecessary roughness" (i.e. head hunting)
October 23rd, 2022 at 11:25 PM ^
Although it may be controversial to state so unequivocally, judged on the criteria of academics as well as athletics, I prefer the University of Michigan over MSU. In fact, I don't really care for Michigan State at all.

A new movie about MSU Football by Disney:

They’ve got Mighty Mouse playing Tucker?
Interesting choice.
October 23rd, 2022 at 11:35 PM ^
I have a new one this year: actively rooting for Michigan players on your NFL team to not play well so you can label them a bust.
I just cant figure this one out no matter how hard i try. If KW3 was on my NFL team, I'd want him to break the rushing record every year.
October 24th, 2022 at 7:48 AM ^
Great observation. I’ve definitely seen that from MSU fans this year and don’t ever remember it before. Although most told me how Gary and Peppers weren’t going to last long in the league. After all. They don’t have what the NFL wants in the way Conor Cook surely must.
October 23rd, 2022 at 11:36 PM ^
They openly root for Hutchinson to be a bust, simply because he played for Michigan.
October 24th, 2022 at 11:36 AM ^
They openly are already calling him a bust, because 4.5 sacks just 6 games into your 1st season = bust status.
October 23rd, 2022 at 11:42 PM ^
It's been hate week for a week already. I don't care about a bye week, it's hate week for two weeks this year. I want to bury this program. No score is enough, I want them to want to concede the game. Pound them into dust.
October 24th, 2022 at 10:46 AM ^
Yes, we’re lucky enough to get a hate fortnight this season.
October 23rd, 2022 at 11:51 PM ^
I guess I am the arrogant Michigan fan who doesn't even consider MSU a rival. On what level are they even in the same conversation as us? Agriculture education or something? I guess it's easier for me as I don't live in Michigan anymore, but I don't even hate them. I don't even care about them. I hate OSU and ND and sometimes Frames Janklin but MSU I couldn't care less about.
October 24th, 2022 at 11:33 AM ^
It's definitely because you don't live in Michigan anymore. Those of us who have to hear shit from them at work, school or while wearing a Michigan hat on a walk in the neighborhood have a pretty easy time keeping the hate up.
October 23rd, 2022 at 11:56 PM ^
Just to be clear, I respect the rivalry with OSU but hate OSU. I cannot respect that program for having a winning at all cost mentality.
Sparty has been a thorn since Dantonio took over and we inexplicably hired Rich Rod. Harbaugh needs to have a new game plan just for them and bury them early. Then throw the ball all the way till the end of the game. 400 yards passing and 400 yards rushing would do it. A full game of pain needs to be inflicted. Score so high that all their commits retract their commitment on Sunday. 70-0 would do it. I am sick of them and want a beat down.
Don't let Reed catch anything, pressure QB and that would do it.
October 24th, 2022 at 1:51 AM ^
Agree respect the rivalry, but fuck OSU. There is no respect beyond that.
October 24th, 2022 at 12:06 AM ^
Being half Greek (half perfect as the Greek side of my family would say), I have always hated that MSU has the Spartans mascot. Spartans were tough and proud warriors. The toughest that Greece has ever known. And for Michigan State to use their great name is downright criminal.
October 24th, 2022 at 7:53 AM ^
Can we use this in the cancel culture to make them change their name? That would be hilarious.
October 24th, 2022 at 8:46 AM ^
If the Notre Dame "Fightin' Irish" with their drunk leprechaun mascot aren't even in this conversation, there's no chance Sparty will be.
October 24th, 2022 at 1:13 PM ^
There weren't always the Spartans. Their original nickname was the Aggies, when MSU was Michigan Agricultural College. In the 1920's, when MAC became Michigan State College, the school hosted a contest to come up with a new nickname. The most popular choice was the Michigan State "Staters". The sports editor of the Lansing State Journal, George S. Alderson, hated the new nickname and took it upon himself to come up with something better and he gravitated to another submission which was the "Spartans". Local writers started to refer to MSC as the Spartans in articles and over time, the name stuck.
Why the long story? Because I think the story behind how Sparty became Sparty is one of the most LOLSparty things ever. All their talk of proud tradition and statues and whatnot was a product of a couple of sports writers coming up with a better sounding nickname than "Staters".
October 24th, 2022 at 1:52 PM ^
The Spartans were proto-fascist, practiced pederasty, owned slaves, and left sickly infants to die in the elements. In no way should they be honored today.
October 24th, 2022 at 12:22 AM ^
Their repeated cover ups of sexual assaults. Whether it is Nassar, spartan athletes or faculty, they continually stonewall and/or do the wrong thing. The BoT is a shitshow. Yeah, I know we had our own issues with Anderson, but I feel we did a thorough search and handled it appropriately, u like MSU.
October 24th, 2022 at 7:45 AM ^
There is nothing good about either the Nassar or Anderson cases for either University. Michigan settled with more than 1000 victims. There is no definition by which that was handled well.
October 24th, 2022 at 1:16 PM ^
Handling Anderson well would have been firing him from his position and turning him over to the proper authorities when the first word of his improprieties were first brought to light, but alas, that was a different time.
October 24th, 2022 at 1:31 AM ^
He should have pissed on it.
October 24th, 2022 at 2:55 PM ^
There was an RCMB thread back in the day where everyone was convinced that whole thing was staged. For what purpose? To get that one picture of Bush staring down the Spartan “line.” Yes, I’m serious, it was all staged so Devin Bush could make a few bucks signing pictures and have a badass background on Instagram.
October 24th, 2022 at 7:53 PM ^
I wouldn’t have cared if it was staged, the way Dantonio almost cried when Harbaugh called his walk “bush league” made my day.
