Harbaugh Today: Onwenu to Offense Long-Term

Submitted by Indonacious on

Harbaugh says Mike Onwenu is going to stay on the offensive line long-term

Harbaugh: Onwenu is going to be an offensive player... He'll contribute more in college and pros on offense

Hopefully it means they feel pretty good about existing D-Line depth or incoming recruits!

Yesssssss!!!! For two reasons, one being manball, the other being that this is an indication that he feels good about our interior dline next year! Great news!

what's best for the player, is almost always best for the team.  You want players playing the position they're best at.  It might not be the position he likes the best, but it's best for his future if it's the position he is most suited for.

Earlier in the season, before a game, I wandered down to a spot near enough to the Michigan sideline that gave me a brief view of Mike Onwenu and an appreciation for the fact that he is indeed a very large human being. Having him on the offensive line sounds great to me because he will indeed pave a considerable road through some defenses, I imagine.

Well he tweeted something after the MSU game that seemed to imply that he had struggled uphill about 100yds with a walker "to achieve something" like the team had done. I.e. It is a long way back for Newsome. If we see him next year I doubt it will before fall. I wish him well on his recovery. If he can make it back to the team even better.

I didnt forget Leatherwood, but of all the OL I think he is the most unlikely to come here. Freshmen have played on this line for the last 2 years, not AS much last year. Wilson, Wills, and even Filiaga are guys that come in and immediately play. Helps solidify the line for the future instead a 5th year senior who's never started.

makes these decisions based on exactly what he said....The guy will be better on offense and has a possible NFL future at that spot?

I get that it's all about the team, but Harbaugh is building a program and wants to put individuals in the best spot to succeed short and long term.
