Harbaugh Today: Onwenu to Offense Long-Term
Harbaugh says Mike Onwenu is going to stay on the offensive line long-term
Harbaugh: Onwenu is going to be an offensive player... He'll contribute more in college and pros on offense
Hopefully it means they feel pretty good about existing D-Line depth or incoming recruits!

That's the glass half full...half empty would be they aren't as happy with O-Line situation next year...I'm with you though!!

Under Hoke or Richrod I would've assumed this was certain doom for the O-line next year

what's best for the player, is almost always best for the team. You want players playing the position they're best at. It might not be the position he likes the best, but it's best for his future if it's the position he is most suited for.

lol and people always mock the "obvious /s" tag

Sounds like a nightly sports news program that needs a broadcast anchor.

He's going to be great at guard. The shadow he'll cast pulling around will be reminiscent of the opening to Star Wars.

Not the first scene, but the first Star Wars scene that popped into my head was Obi-Wan saying "that's no moon."

Earlier in the season, before a game, I wandered down to a spot near enough to the Michigan sideline that gave me a brief view of Mike Onwenu and an appreciation for the fact that he is indeed a very large human being. Having him on the offensive line sounds great to me because he will indeed pave a considerable road through some defenses, I imagine.

To be the QB in our new Kaiju option package. Speight would be the RB.

This news comes after the Solomon visit. Coincidence? I think not!

Dood is huge in so many ways...what an awesome anchor for our line for years to come!

I can dig it.
Dawson as your interior 6th OL and JBB as your OT 6th OL.

But for the record I hope you're right

I'm not positive Newsome will be back for next year.
I think we may see JBB-Bredeson-Cole-Onwenu/Kugler/Dawson - Ulizio/True Fr.
If Bredeson can play tackle, then I could see one of the RG players going to LG.

I won't book it, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a true Freshman at OT.

I didnt forget Leatherwood, but of all the OL I think he is the most unlikely to come here. Freshmen have played on this line for the last 2 years, not AS much last year. Wilson, Wills, and even Filiaga are guys that come in and immediately play. Helps solidify the line for the future instead a 5th year senior who's never started.

Dawson has been playing RT a lot. I'd venture to say he starts there and bredeson stays at guard

or does it depend on Newsome's health and whether any freshman play?
November 7th, 2016 at 8:23 PM ^
makes these decisions based on exactly what he said....The guy will be better on offense and has a possible NFL future at that spot?
I get that it's all about the team, but Harbaugh is building a program and wants to put individuals in the best spot to succeed short and long term.

Kugler's been the first guard off the bench. Kugler before Onwenu?

I have a feeling Ulizio is going to be RT next year. He's been playing the position for the second team line and has had some pretty good reviews so far.
