Harbaugh has opinions about Dantonio

Submitted by WGoNerd on

Some fire here.  Seems as if coach Harbaugh doesn't care much for Dantonio's shade.

@CoachJim4UM: Saw Coach D comments on continuing to "focus" on how "he" can beat Michigan. Congrats on turning around a 3-9 team, plagued with off field issues. Good for BIG to have him back.

See, I don't think this is about the record, folks. I get that people are squeamish about seeing such tweets in a year where we lost a winnable game to them, but I think it is more about MSU's irritating tendency to define themselves in terms of Michigan (not just football, but in virtually everything) and the "disrespekt" card which Dantonio plays routinely. In this case, all that is essentially being thrown right back at them.

I like it. I think it puts some energy into this going into next year.

It's a petty thing for a coach (Dantonio) to say who has the record he has against Michigan. Should be an interesting game in EL next year.

I like this more than the subtweets. He named him right in the tweet. No beating around the bush. He's putting himself out there. He has no intentions of losing next year.

What I mean, is that he can't justify a loss. He can't blame it on where the game is played, who is at QB, what fluke stuff happens, etc etc etc. With this tweet, he'll have to eat crow if he loses. He's calling his shot basically.

Dan Tony can hang his hat on a once in a lifetime fluke and beating john fucking o'korn by 4 points in a monsoon. I wouldn't count on either of those things happening again if I were him.

Danotnio had no reason to even bring up Michigan in his bowl press conference. We are always in his head

No, it isn’t easy. Unless you think MSU’s playoff team should have needed a once-in-a-lifetime miracle play to beat us three years ago. Or if you think a thorough ass kicking last year is getting outcoached.

2015 was two years ago. But three games ago. Either way, Harbaugh definitely outcoached Dantonio. Last year, he also outcoached him. We dominated that game. We were up 3 scores with 8 minutes to go in the 4th. I guess if you only look st the last 8 minutes of the game he might have outcoached Harbaugh. This year we turned the ball over 5 times and they still only won by 4. If you are saying Dantonio thoroughly outcoached Harbaugh in a game they had zero first downs in the second half until their last drive, then I’m not sure how you came to the conclusion Dantonio also outcoached Harbaugh the two years before

Harbaugh  failed to save a timeout or take a penalty when MSU overloaded the LOS with rushers on the blocked punt. He should have gone max protect and had O'Neill kick the ball out of bounds.

Not to mention allowing the nobody Trevor Pendleton to catch a pass, uncovered, for an 80 yard+ gain on 3rd and long earlier in the quarter.

Or how about last year when a 3-9 MSU team stayed in the game against a UM team loaded with NFL players?

This year he stubbornly stuck with a bad QB in JOK who never should have been on the field with Peters on the team and was running 4 wide plays in a monsoon. Also continued to run futile zone blocking plays when gap blocking was working great.

You ought to try to learn something about football rather than slobberknockering Harbaugh.

You don't know sheet.

I hear from Spartan fans all the time how close they were last year while they were 3-9. Those of us who watched the game and aren’t MSU fans know it was never close. Also, I love how you point to JOK being in the game this year as a reason Harbaugh was outcoached while you completely ignore O’Conner starting last year’s game and Terry playing, both happening before Lewerke played. I guess that is how Dantonio outcoached Harbaugh last year-by keeping his best QB on the bench until two other QBs got his team into a big hole

Continuing to go out in public and whine about disrespect and take little pot shots at Michigan while his program has had all sorts of guys in all sorts of trouble.

Maybe don't take little jabs at people if you don't want a right hook coming back your way

What about this would wipe the smirk of Dantanios face? They live to be disrespected by Michigan. Their entire program is built on the idea of beating Michigan, being the better program and getting passed over so they need to continually prove it on the field.

The worst thing Michigan can do to msu is relegate them to Wisconsin or Northwestern.  They sometimes win in short bursts but overall Michigan wins and doesn't care about them.

We'll play with some fire next year. Thought we did in 2016 because of the punt, this year we seemed flat, I know the weather was bad, but we need to beat them a couple years in a row..

Most things coach says on twitter I am fine with. This though, come on. Let him cry and move on to someone that matters. Why give Dantonio a stage?

Conversely, why keep acting like we're so much bigger than it all and better than them and then they beat us because it's the day they wait a year for? How about we act like it actually is and not the idealized version? At this point, Michigan should be the underdog every year until proven otherwise.

Because that whole plan A thing wasn't working.

"In any dispute, the intensity of feeling is inversely proportional to the value of the issue at stake."

Why is Dantonio worried about the "prize" of the Outback Bowl in the first place?  And now JH joins the fight?

hey maybe if our coaches focused on beating our rivals all throughout the year we'd have a better record against them.

If harbaugh is upset, win the dang games next year

Yeah, lack of focus on beating our rivals, that's the ticket, definitely why the WL against MSU is what it is is.

It's not at all due to the literal Play of the Milennium and/or the fact we had a...less than Ideal QB playing in monsoon-like conditions creating 5 turnovers and leading to a loss of 4 points.  They won, we lost, it is is what it is but the circumstances would suggest to a higher form of intelligence than resides in EL that maybe they should keep their mouths shut and be glad for the good fortune which has befallen them.

But MSU is totally the balls, we should all just ask sir for another as Dantonio continues to place Michigan in his mouth any time someone asks him what the weather is like outside.

As far as I'm concerned, for this if nothing else, I'm not really too geared up about anyone talking shit to MSU right now, forgive me...

Except between the Isaac fumble drive and mckeon fumble drive our offensive drives were these:

3 plays, 7 yards, punt

5 plays, 20 yards, punt

8 plays, 12 yards, punt

3 plays, -1 yards, punt

So yeah, they didn't call the fumble play but we called 19 plays and only averaged 2 yards a play between those two fumble drives.  That is on the coaching.

But one of those fumbles led directly to a touchdown for MSU. And if the other didn’t happen, we would be in field goal range with 30 seconds to close out the 1st half. So it’s awesome you trotted our those stats, but they completely ignore the actual implications of those two turnovers. Without those two turnovers, you are looking at a possible 10 point swing and, in a 14-3 half, that is huge. That’s why I said it. MSU didn’t have any turnovers and that doesn’t mean Dantonio called an amazing half of football, it means one of the most turnover prone team in the B10 got lucky and didn’t turn the ball over. Shit, later in the game on a crucial third down play, Lewerke happened to fumble the ball directly to himself and picked up the first down. I didn’t credit Dantonio for calling the fumble firs down play just like I didn’t say Harbaugh was outcoached because we happened to play shittier than MSU that day

Turnovers suck.  No doubt about that.

But the fact that we had four drives for 38 yards in perfect football weather is a major part of why we were down 14-3.   Everyone knew the weather report going into the game, and one team built a crucial lead while the other team turned it over twice and struggled to move the ball otherwise.

Perhaps Harbaugh wasn't outcoached, but MSU executed much better.  Better execution may not have a causal relationship with better coaching, but the two are at least correllated. Right?
