Harbaugh’s Gift to Family at Funeral for 12 Year Old

Submitted by CMHCFB on September 13th, 2019 at 11:38 AM

Classy move by Harbaugh, giving the family a signed football at the funeral for their son who passed away at the age of 12 from cardiac arrest.  The kid was a UM fan who dreamed of playing for UM and being drafted by the lions.  Jack Harbaugh attended the funeral. Such a sad story but nice to see the effort to provide support to the family.

It was posted a couple of weeks ago.  The only reason anyone what Jack was there, at all, is because a teacher )or family friend) recognized him and called the media.  He refused to be interviewed...

The Harbaugh family has more class than the vast majority of college football illuminati, combined.

There's a difference between double posting an already discussed nonsense topic just hours after it was discussed because you couldn't be bothered to look to see if it has been posted, and missing a briefly discussed human-interest story posted 6-7 pages back on the board that wasn't titled in such a way to make it easily searchable. You're all good OP. People can chill about the already posted thing and use their brains a bit.

Great story.  Absolutely hate the headline on the FREEP front page: Jim Harbaugh sends heartbreaking gift to Michigan boy’s funeral.

Usually a heart breaker is a bad thing.  The Harbaughs did a wonderful thing.  Then again, FREEP gonna FREEP.

I didn't see this posted the first time around.  I feel so sorry for the family.  What a horrible thing to lose a child at any age.

To post something twice is not a mortal sin.  Keep things in perspective, and if, after reading the Freep piece you still think posting a story twice is a big deal, I guess we just don't see life the same way.

This story hit hard here in Ionia County, where, like most of rural Michigan, football and Friday night lights are a big deal. At our home football game that week our middle school football team passed the helmet and collected $1900 to give to the family to help with expenses. So proud of our kids and the many fans on both sides of the field, including fans from two counties away that didn't even know about the tragedy until then, who reached into their pockets to make a donation.

I'm not on this board as often b/c (as my username would suggest) I spend considerably more time following the Buckeyes: that was my undergraduate institution as well as my doctoral internship site, and my family has always lived in Ohio. That said--I will never argue that Urban Meyer is a good human being, not after his protection of an abuser and then half-assed apology. My hope is that Day proves to have more integrity. While I will always pull for my Bucks in The Game, I have huge respect for Harbaugh father and son for their support during a time that I can't even begin to imagine. I also learned that Jim invited a sexual assault survivor to speak to the team, and made a commitment to bring her back every year. So...always a Buckeye, but much respect for the integrity JH shows.
