Hallelujah: A Michigan Football Verse

Inspired by a midnight Reddit discussion of this game:

Hallelujah

I heard there was a secret scheme that Bo ran and it creased the seam, but Gattis doesnt really care for offense, does he?

Well it goes like this on third and short,
The minor gain that brings up fourth,
The baffled fans sighing their Hallelujah.

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Hallelujah

Well your D was strong, but you needed proof.
You saw it hold on third and two.
The beauty of the edge rush overthrew you.

It tied you to the man-cave chair
as tempo miscues made you pull your hair.
And from your lips, it drew the Hallelujah

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Baby, I've been here before
I've seen this team and I've watched the Horror.
God knows, I used to view games alone before I knew you.

I've seen you try to read the arc.
This drive is not a victory march; it's a field goal and a broken Hallelujah.

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Well, there was a time when you let me see
What's really happening on the field
But FOX would never show that to me, would they?

But remember, when we used to score
And the crowd was always shouting "MOAR!"
And every breath, we drew was Hallelujah?

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Maybe there's a God above
But, all I've ever learned from love
Was how to cheer a team that shoots itself?
And it's not a cry, that you hear at night
When someone says we have playoff life
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

We're 8-1 and ranked in the top 10 in the country in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year (we've already exceeded a lot of fans' projected win total for the season) but we're crying into our beer about "how to cheer a team that shoots itself."

Michigan has top 10 teams in football, basketball and hockey at the moment, but we're trying to feel sorry for ourselves anyway.   Nice one Redditers.

Outside of UGA, the rest of the top 10 was pretty unimpressive yesterday. LSU had three drives to take a 4th quarter lead against Bama and came up short. Nebraska had a similar chance against OSU. Oregon looked pedestrian, but that was enough against a John Donovan coached offense.

A lot of bad football/lucky teams in the top 10 this weekend.
