Griese: WTF

Submitted by kawter on

He's like the antithesis of Herbie, not sure he can say anything positive about his alma mater

say it, if Speight is not near 100%, there is no way we win in Columbus. He must be effective like most of the season. I don't see us keeping it close if O'korn plays, just basing it off what I saw today.

Really?  You don't see it being even close with JOK?  I understand the offense needs some fire next week, but I think you're maybe giving Ohio St too much credit.  I like how our defense stacks up against their offense.  Add in peppers creating good field position on the special teams, and I think we have the advantage in 2/3 phases.  I think no matter who starts at QB it will be a close game.  I would prefer to see Speight but I will not be hopeless with JOK

Osu will run the perimeter all day, we have not shown the ability to stop in consistently, I know osu is not the same osu, but I also think people are discounting osu. They have a lot of speed and will look to exploit our LB's. Sorry, but with okorn, I don't see it being close.

Michigan did better at defending the perimeter yesterday against Indiana. Obviously, OSU has more speed and a good coach, but I think some of the issues against Maryland were scheme-related. I actually think we'll be better at defending the edge against OSU than we were against Maryland, but the biggest thing that's going to hurt us is our lack of offense.

Stop bitching OP...he gave Peppers the Heisman in like week 2 and has never dropped him from #2. He gets paid to give an opinion, not be a cheerleader. Herbie doesn't always slurp OSU either. Those fans bitch that he's too anti-OSU. Stop being those fans.

I can't come up with a reason why Michigan is behind a 3-loss USC or a 2-loss Oklahoma under any circumstance. We have three current top-10 wins. THREE. Don't see anything worse than a 6-seed overall, and that's if Washington wins out and we happen to lose to OSU. You HAVE to make early games count.

the following basic math applies  Griese>Herbstreit; Griese>Galloway; Griese> Herbstreit + Galloway.  While I will listen to them from time to time, I find Herbie and Galloway occasionally help me appreciate the value of the mute button on my clicker.

Yeah, I've really started noticing this season that he seems to go out of his way to shit on Michigan at times, I assume to appear as unbiased as possible. But ironically, this is also a bias.

Don't get this. Is he supposed to pick Michigan because he played there? Why isn't there a thread about Mcshay? It has been forever since UM has beaten OSU. I barely count squeaking by and awful team with no head coach. UM plays there and has QB issues. I think they can win, but picking OSU to win at home isn't rant worthy IMO.

Why am I supposed to care what *any* analyst thinks at this point? We're going to play the game(s), and then we'll know. Until then, folks are just filling dead air with words.

He wants to be taken serious at his job, and not come across as a homer. If Michigan beats OSU, he'll change his opinion. Not that his opinion really matters, so ... It's just something to talk about. If he says what everybody else is saying, there's nothing to talk about.

All the complaints about Griese on here are about him being an anti-homer. I don't even see that. I just see someone who, like his father, is not that good of a commentator and who doesn't do his homework.

The college football broadcasting talent at ESPN has taken a huge nose dive and Griese's ascension is one of many signs of that.

It seemed like the OL and the backs stuggled with IU's pressures all game long.  JOK did not help himself by trying to extend plays by running backwards.  Those issues have to get corrected next week.

When the offense is predictable like it was yesterday, anybody oline will struggle.  We would run on 1st down and depending on the yard distance, Indiana would bring the safeties down making it 9 in the box.  Indiana then would blitz and blitz again. That's how the game went until we started running power runs.

This is just more national media hatred of all things Michigan related, don't get all worked up about it.

SC is in the top 6 because the ad-driven media will always pander to the LA-San Diego market over Michigan.
