Griese: WTF

Watched osu this year? Not saying Michigan will win, but osu has done very poorly verse any team with a good defense. They could not pull away from sparty for god sake. Sure, sparty scored two garbage time td's to make it look like a closer game. But they were never a threat in the second half. They are overrated, and mich defense will shut them down. Just need some offense and Michigan wins.

How were those TDs "garbage time?" OSU let them score with 4 minutes left and the morons decided to go for two instead of try to hold them, call timeout and get a FG. OSU played like shit today and, honestly, I hope they think they can play that way next week.

While I agree who would you put in over them if they win the B1G? For sure, Washington if they win out. Would you put is a 3 loss champ PAC 12 USC team? 2 loss Oklahoma B12 champ? 2 loss CU PAC 12 champ? Even if these teams are selected would they bump Wisky or OSU. A lot depends on how much weight the committee places on conference championships.

As much as it pains me to see his prediction, it could happen like that. We play like shit on the road. QB play without Speight is just ugly. With Speight we are different. His poise and leadership are missed greatly. All that I'm sure runs into his thought process.

I think we should appreciate having a former player that takes his job seriously. At least he's not some slappy homer like Lou Holtz who would still take this year's ND team to make the playoff and win it all. It doesn't mean he loves Michigan any less.

Maybe he watched our last two games...some of you are freaking idiotic. We lost at Iowa to an inferior squad and looked anemic on offense vs. Indiana. If Speight doesn't play, and play well, next week we are going to lose. In that context, what is wrong with his rankings? They look pretty fair to me

Last year, OSU played in a monsoon and lost by a FG (against the eventual conference champion) a week before The Game.  And then in The Game, our DC had checked out due to the head coaching gig at Maryland.

UM's defensive line needs to set the edge--don't let runners bounce outside.  Notice the difference that made in Indiana's running game, first half v. second half yesterday.

Also, Peppers did a good job as spy on Beathard during the Iowa game--Beathard is a capable runner but didn't have big gains on the ground against UM.  Any thoughts on whether Peppers should be used the same way against Barrett and OSU?

and say Michigan pulls off the upset at OSU and then wins the BTCG. While not the most likely scenario, it's also not some harebrained fantasy either. I think we're the underdog in C-Bus but you see a lot bigger upsets almost on a weekly basis in college football.

The problem with the committee and media is these are basically power rankings and most picks are based on recency bias. Michigan at this point is not gonna get the benefit when we look subpar like Clemson or OSU does. Michigan has to win with style points. Also the committee won't take into consideration we won a game with our backup in the snow but will turn a round and use that as a reason why OSU/MSU was close.

If Michigan wins B1G CG with no style points, we're in. The only scenario where style points might matter is if we beat OSU and lose in B1G CG. Our resume would be strong with victories over CU, OSU, PSU and 1-1 v, Wisky, but no conference championship and two recent losses.

because of past success.  OSU has an offense that consists of two players getting 40-50 runs combined and one rb/slot player getting a dozen touches.  They have not demonstrated a passing attack since early on in the season.  We have our own problems on Offense, however, our defense has been very good.  In our one loss we only gave up 14 points.  I think we match up very well against OSU.  I love that everyone is overlooking us right now.

Our defense may match up well with their offense, but if Speight isn't back next week, or if O'Korn doesn't become a sensation overnight, OSU's defense is going to tee off on our offense.

They'll put 9 guys in the box on every snap and dare O'Korn to try and beat them with his arm. My worry is that our defense will play valiantly, but will only be able to hold up for so long with the offense constantly going three and out.

Further proof that these dimwits on tv don't know anything more about college football than anyone else. They probably watch less than most of us. I don't care how good USC is playing right now, they have lost 3 games this year. I hope we get to play them just so we can kick their asses. Using their logic, maybe they could move MSU up to #4 if they beat PSU next week.

Well until we beat osu I see nothing wrong with this, we've loss 11/12 and we play them on the road, possibly without our starting qb, also with a defense that has struggled all season with the perimeter defense, I mean, it would be an upset for us to win, be honest. He's doing his job, if Michigan does theirs, it doesn't mattered what anybody says!

Why is thinking OSU is going to win a stupid opinion? I want them to wi n as much as all of you, but what we have seen the last two weeks does not make me think that is likely. I'm guessing Greise just feels the same way.
