Not that I doubt (it kinda makes sense based on his ever decreasing role), but source/link? Just curious where you saw this.
Dooooooom
Earlier this year, when we knew Crawford and Walker were gone, you said there was a third unexpected departure looming. Was that in reference to McDoom or Wheatley or is there yet someone else looking to leave?
See my comment below. Wheatley was a surprise to a lot of people, staff included.
Bummer, other guys beat him out of a job?
Yes sir. Especially Perry/Martin combo.
Was McDoom participating in the first couple of days of camp, as the roster would suggest he was?
He was supposed to have transfered in the spring time frame. A lot of people were shocked that he was still here.
The Normandy trip was a pretty big draw.
Thank you for having my back earlier in the year when I said he was leaving.
I forgot we have Schoenle too, any word on this Jake McCurry kid anymore?

This one is a little puzzling in terms of timing. It looked like he was with the team all through summer conditioning.
Either way, best of luck to McDOOOOOOOOMMMM
He will likely play right away in FCS.
Thanks! I think he will do well there.
We could use him here at Montana State in Bozeman, MT... The winters are a little harsh, but the school is great, the town has a kind of AA appeal and he would be a definite upgrade in the WR room!
If he transfers there, it’s your job to keep him out of The Hub in Belgrade. That place is a trap.
Skiing is better too!
Are you dissing Mt. Brighton? :-)
Does Mt. Brighton still exist? It's been years since I've been back to Michigan.

It's just a trash heap now. Sad...

Mt. Brighton was bought a couple of years ago by a big skiing corporation from out west. They've revamped the slopes and have added more for ski boarders. They've done well when the weather has cooperated.
Bozeman is fucking awesome. I used to visit my cousin who was a student at MT State and also a ski instructor and also a nanny (she was an overachiever; I just skied during spring break). Great town, great school, great people.

Bozeman is second best to Missoula- One of the greatest "small towns" in America. Bozeman is sweet but the people aren't nearly as nice as the ones in Missoula. Skiing is much better on Bozo though
Additionally, while I think it was mostly to do with Giles Jackson trending to Oregon, this may help explain Quintel Kent's sudden movement from "offer" to take at slot.
It does provide some reasoning. It still doesn’t say great things about our recruiting that he is who we turned to.
we really need some big wins this year.
Kent will shut you up in a big way. I'm looking forward to it.
I hope you are right. I'll root my ass off for him on and off the field. Doesn't mean just because he committed to Michigan I'm going to pretend like all available evidence no longer matters because I don't like what it says.
Experience teaches that if Michigan can get better guys later on, they will. Some of these recruits may or may not stick; others may, as discussed elsewhere here, transfer. But it's good to get guys in the program. Some wind up not working out; others become Karan Higdon and Grant Perry.
I agree that this season's success is pretty significant for the future of the program. Michigan needs to prove it is elite to recruit like it is elite.
Even Kent's positional description was the same as McDoom's. Primarily a slot, but could play outside.
Hey good Dr. Where is Magnus?
I don't know! Haven't heard from him much in the past few months. Hope everything is alright with him and he pops up around here soon!
Thanks. I will send him an email and see where he is.
This sucks. While I didn't expect him to get much playing time this year, it's always nice to have an experienced athletic player with speed in case of injuries.
Dooooooooooommmmmmmm!
Really liked Eddie... he was GREAT with the kids at camps, etc. My son is going to be bummed... :(
Man. Where's this leave Michigan on the 85 man limit? Any walk-ons gonna get some loan forgiveness?
It frees up an extra scholarship for this year so can't they just offer a walk on a 1 year scholarship for 2018?
mcDOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
It probably won't go to anybody with eligibility beyond this year. Pretty clear that the staff wants to bring in a recruiting class larger than they currently have room for.
Scholarships for walkons policy?
1st in line, proven contributors - that's what walkons are offered a shot at.
2nd in line, 5th year seniors - a nice reward, no hard feelings to deal with
3rd in line - 4th year seniors - still have a year of eligibillity, but not renewing 5th years is common.
or 3rd in line - non seniors who have contributed more than most
last in line - incoming freshmen - it triggers the Big Ten's 4 year guarantee
Unfortunately, my last memory of him will be dropping that wide-open pass in the final minute of the State game.
Sad, but same. That, and Ty Isaac fumbling earlier in that game, are my lasting memories of both. Too bad because really, neither play actually cost Michigan the game.
Well, in a game we lost 14-10, both hurt quite a bit. If either goes the other way it's quite possible we win.
Wellll...it rarely comes down to ‘one’ play, but Isaac’s fumble was really bad, because Michigan was moving the ball again on their 2nd drive and it totally flipped the momentum. McDoom’s drop—that was really bad. He had a first down on the catch at the 30 and nobody behind him. He could have turned upfield easily and picked up at least 5-10 more and possibly scored if the DB doesn’t tackle. Worst case scenario (on a catch), it’s a first down on the 25 with 15 seconds left. Best case—a lot closer or in. That was huge.
McDoom's drop was bad, it felt like that whole play was slow motion. Isaac's fumble was what changed the game though, It 3-0 and we were almost at midfield and the senior coughed it up.

That Issac fumble flipped the momentum and we didn't get it back until the end of the half, and MSU cashed that in for a touchdown. We were moving the ball up until then and then not so much after that.
I beg to differ that play cost us the game.
This sucks man.
Sigh.
I guess this frees up a spot to recruit another underscouted off-the-radar kid who might somehow someway be able to play tackle after 4 years in the program.

He caught one hell of a slant vs Hawai’i. Showed terrific hands on that play
1969: Those who stay become champions.
2018: Fuck it, I'm outta here.
Well considering nobody who came in 1969 won a National championship it wasn’t true then either.
He wasn’t getting utilized in a way in this offense that showed off his talents. If he still believes he can prove he can make it in the nfl he should 100% leave and do what’s best for him. Just like you should leave your job if another company offers you a better job and you’ve been passed over multiple times for a promotion at your current stop. College football is a business, this is just student athletes realizing it.
No, but those who came in 1969 won a Big Ten championship that year, and then again in 71 and 72
