We need to hit the portal asap for some help. We basically have Will Johnson as a proven corner.

Gemon worked hard and improved steadily and performed well during his time at Michigan.  Was hoping he would be back and was looking forward to it.  He knows what is best for his situation. Good luck to him always.

Cornerback can definitely make or break a defense. Teams with one weak cornerback need to overcompensate with safeties which is something teams can exploit. Michigan has had some great defenses get exposed because of an inexperienced cornerback. I imagine Sainristil will play some cornerback as well this year.

I think this is a mistake by Green. He is not on anyones top 30 corner list. If that doesn’t change after the combine, can he reverse his decision?

I mean, I get it’s been 5 years, but it looks like “undrafted FA” is the most likely outcome. I wish him the best, but NIL and college seems like the best use of his time over the next year.

It sounds like there are people genuinely concerned about Jackson transferring. No idea if there are credible sources on the ol Twitter machine these days. But he also is making some comments on Will Johnson’s IG posts getting people excited. I know they’re good buddies, and played this same game last year but if this were to happen this would give UM 2 stars at CB. Rest of the D looks fantastic except for one spot (CB). Why all the panic? Green was ok but I feel like they’ve recruited well here recently, bunch of great athletes in that ‘21 class that could slide in here and be very good. Will Johnson is a star, half the field will be ‘out of service,’ especially when you look at the 2023 QBs on the schedule.

FWIW I’d say I’m not panicked. I would say CB is the place where our choices involve the probability of seeing the most snaps with guys that are relative unknowns. Aka guys are that have played very little this year, and/or have to change from safety to corner.

in the context of a team whose goals are zero losses and win the NC, that’s a valid place for concern. Remember we aren’t just talking about beating big ten qb, but the best of the best, whoever that is next year.

The good news is we have talent there, like you said, especially in the last year safety class.
