Game thread: Michigan at Illinois - Men’s Hoops - 7:00 pm EST on ESPN
Michigan travels to Champaign to face the Illini. The broadcast begins at 7:00 pm EST on ESPN.
Though Purdue leads the conference standings by two games, the race for second is tight. Our Wolverines are in second place in the conference with an 11-7 record, a half game ahead of seven other teams who have 8 losses.
A lot of comments in different threads. It’s as close to a “must win” as there is, if the team hopes to Dance in a couple of weeks.
Rumor has it that Jett will be in the lineup tonight…
Go Blue!
Do they always stop play with the other team on offense when someone is hurt?
When it is Michigan, yes.
I like our energy so far.
Dug and Bufkin are the man.
Reed wasn't moving on that screen
BS call on Reed
I don't know about that foul on Tarris.
Reed making a difference already.
If there's an all-time record for fouls called on moving screens, Tarris Reed is a contender.
Thats ref speak for "lets nudge this game in the right direction"
Not even close to moving, and of course as usual announcers fail to call out officials for an awful call.
Everyone who misses free throws hits them against M
Their crowd is into it… no love for the Maize & Blue..
Then again, if you’ve ever been to Champaign - you know there isn’t much to do…
Howard’s conundrum is that there isn’t anyway to get a lineup without a glaring defensive weakness. You can’t really sit all of Jett/Baker/Cheddar.
Coach Howard is that you?
Reed Hunter Twill Bufkin Duggie
So any touch on Illinois is a foul? Got it.
The refs hate Juwan
Jett Dug and Kobe should eat on this drop coverage Illinois runs.
Ticky tack
No foul on the trip?
WTF was that out of bounds play?
TWill inbounds and then takes the return pass... still out of bounds. Sigh.
Just here to share my .02 that the Watchalong needs more nudity.
Always here to help.
Avatar fits...
The shit admissions dept really cost the basketball team this year. Shannon is a monster.
Oh cool another road game where UM has to be 10+ better the home team just overcome extremely homecooking officiating.
Illinois is getting every little touch foul when they go to the basket. And they go to the basket a lot. That's a problem.
T Will!
That's your game T Will! Good job!
Feels like a game where Howard knows he'll need the zone and holds it back until he absolutely has to use it. He has to see that everyone is getting blown by. Especially Hunter.
They are absolutely awful playing zone. Michigan has been better on defense since they've dropped the zone. Maybe throw it in every once in awhile but teams just got easy shots against it.
Illinois down 2 point guards but we have 6 turnovers.
Take care of the damn ball!
It is really lovely UM has to try and play basketball against home teams being allowed to play football.
Hunter has the worst little baby hands.
HD has butter fingers tonite
Illinois is not that good of a team…. At least without their PG. Michigan should win this shit.
Probably, but also easier said than done when you have to be a certain amount of points better than the home team to make up for looks like is going to be another long night of the game being called completely differently on each end.
Goode foot OOB still gets the jump ball call. Boo
This feels frantic. I don't think frantic is to our advantage though.
Illinois gameplay just to foul on every rebound and see what's considered a foul
And the answer to that question is absolutely nothing. It is not hyperbole to say UM opponents at home have been allowed to play something resembling football pretty frequently.
Man Illinois is not shooting well, we have six more rebounds, and we're still barely winning. A bit concerning
I mean when it is a parade to the line for one team on any slight contact it is really not hard to figure out why it is still close.
Get rolling, Hunter!
Clean block by Hunter called a foul.
Fouls are very lopsided
Completely half assed attempt at that lose ball by Jett
Shannon really puts his head down and goes to the basket.
I'm not sure how Kobe missed that layup.
