Game thread - Men’s Hoops hosting Toledo. 7:00 pm EDT, ESPN2
The men’s hoops squad hosts Toledo at Crisler in the first round of the NIT this evening at 7:00 pm EDT with a broadcast on ESPN2.
It’s “win, or clean out your locker” time..
There’s been noticeable development at certain positions. Hoping the team plays smart, protects the ball, moves well, and takes advantage of the home court.
Go Blue!
That's the 2nd foul call against us that has been seconds late and almost like they're waiting to see the outcome of the shot
What the hell? That's the second time that ref has blown the whistle late.
NIT refs also failed to qualify for the ncaa
Lol...and this is one of the top B1G crews.
Damn! That kid Dennis is playing hoop with a club foot?! He's wearing one size 13 shoe and one size11 shoe? It's amazing that he can run straight, let alone play D1 basketball well.
Jared Sullinger had one leg that was inches longer than the other. He walked with an obvious limp off the court
Wow! I didn't know that! Incredible.
Even in NIT at home fouls are 3-7 lol. Amazing. We do enough things bad. Don’t need foul discrepancies
"Refs you suck" & "Ball don't lie" from the crowd - love it
Toledo’s D makes T Will look like a scoring threat
Ahh, so the refs are gonna call fouls like it’s the NBA but not travels
Fairly entertaining trashball TBH
Agreed, and this board is keeping me entertained
Dug and Kobe can't come off the court honestly.
And yo-yo can’t come back on
back to back nice passes by dug. good sign going forward.
Kobe gets called for traveling too much.
Won’t have to worry about it when he’s in the NBA next year.
At least we're winning.
thinking of tuning in...glad I checked the board first. back to listening to television personalities and making dinner.
I mean, it's exactly as expected so far. Except that we're turning it over a lot? Toledo came in with a good game plan to pressure and trap us knowing their stops are pretty much only going to come on turn overs.
We of course look like we haven't scouted the other team or coached our players. But also Toledo is a really good offensive team. Like, legit the best Michigan has played this year give or take Iowa which is also a top 5 offense nationally (and opponent adjusted).
Who sucks worse, the refs or these announcers?
I don’t know the answer, but this is the correct question
Well, way too many turnovers and giving up offensive rebounds to a severely undersized team, but it seems we learned to box out of free throws...Progress?
Toleo should block out all the D’s in their city instead of the M’s
It's impressive how bad we are on defense.
I mean, we’re basically playing the bench.
It's mostly been the starters.
There were 2 or 3 bench guys on the for most of the half. Baker and Tshetter have started games, but they are not starters.
Not really. Normal rotation except no Jett and oddly more Youssef than necessary? Although that's probably because they go real small and so JH probably doesn't want to go two bigs as funny as that would be to watch.
"forced turnover" right.
Who is the color commentator tonight?
Cory Alexander, played at UVA
Thank you. I ask because he indicated that he had basically been watching Michigan basketball all this season and some Purdue.
Corey Alexander and Curtis Staples were assassins from 3 at Virginia
You’re welcome! I heard that as well. He usually does ACC games…I’ve sort of grown to like or at least tolerate him.
Seems fine to me. He certainly was talking to Juwan up. He also was realistic about how Michigan’s a little disappointed to be in the NIT‘s but they’re here to play. I thought that was refreshing as opposed to a bunch of fluff and cow manure
Kobe turns the ball over a lot.
He didn't get the name Kobe for nothing.
Not relative to his usage, normally. A 15.3% assist rate is pretty good. As a team, he'd be the 26th best team in the country at not turning it over.
This game? Yeah, for sure.
No foul on Toledo there?
Bufkin. Wtf dude
Seems like all season people ignore Bufkins gaffes... they negate all the good shots he makes .. that needs to be considered..
Because he has a nice shot he has escaped any shared blame for this season.
they negate all the good shots he makes
That's a bridge too far, my man. He's had a couple of high gaffe games, but he's had many more games where he filled the positive columns of the stat sheet. Plus, his on ball defense has been exceptional quite often this season.
When you say "blame" do you think he's responsible for Michigan being mediocre?
Has he made mistakes? Absolutely, he's a human basketball player. Has he made vastly more positive plays than negative? Also yes, and without him, Michigan would have been a lot worse.
He and Hunter were well above average players on an average team that was brought down by a few below average players that needed to be on the floor.
“Dennis not going to blow by you on defense”… baker… hold my jockstrap
Kobe is sabotaging his nba draft stock before our eyes. And it is beautiful.
I don't follow NBA at all, but I still can't believe people want to draft Jett or Kobe. They have some offense but are so raw - and not much defense.
Sounds like you don't follow this Michigan team at all either
Which part of my statement was factually incorrect?
