Game day! What's in your solo cup?

Submitted by Dennis on
Pretty excited for game day. Also anxious, bc screw giving more credibility to MSU in any way. I'm drinking Guernsey chocolate milk bc my new year's resolution is cool it with the sauce.

Would love a win today. At daughters basketball practice and then Home for the game. No alcohol for me today trying to take January off. Plus I may have developed gout.

Jefferson FuN fAcT: Sally Hemmings was his deceased wife's half-sister! Same daddy. Different moms. Hemmings looked just like Jefferson's late-wife; her complexion wasn't much darker, since Hemming's mother and her mother before her were basically concubines of Jefferson's in-laws. But Sally Hemmings was younger than Jefferson's deceased wife. And he owned Sally Hemmings, so her participation in their...um...affair could never be considered voluntary.

Anyway--that's your Jefferson FuN fAcT for the day. Whatcha drinkin'?

ago, and, while taking the tour of the slave quarters, he asked the docent where Sally would have stayed.

This was well before the Jeffersons had their kumbaya moment and admitted the truth.

Let's just say the docent, a Jefferson progeny, neither appreciated nor answered the question.

I love how many of the Jefferson family and friends just hate and deny and deflect the Hemmings stuff, many still to this day. The guy liked (and probably loved) one of his slaves (when she was a teenager). So what? A huge proportion of slave owners did, as immoral and exploitative as that is. It's just a fact. Accept it and move on...

It was meant to play on the common perceptions/misperceptions.

The truth is I have two close black friends and they don't smoke weed. I probably partake a handful of times every year.

I meant to employ irony and hope that folks know that was the case.

BTW, I was really proud that my father bared the emperor at Monticello.

Coffee again finally. Kids broke my French press carafe the other day, so I went out and grabbed an aeropress to use while I find the right replacement glass.

French-pressed French roasted coffee. I buy beans and grind them in-store, so I never get a country of origin for this one, but my assumption is it's a Mexican, since Mexican coffees reveal delightful chocolate undertones when French roasted. Also: I did a wake-and-bake.
