Disappointing.
High 4.5* only.

The kid is really good. I mean REALLY GOOD!!!

I wrote the article. Cool seeing me cited on mgoblog!
Edison, for what it's worth, is a very strong OC public school program, and they threw everything they had at Charbonnet. Charbonnet came across as a one-cut power back with a bit of breakaway speed. He had two fifty yard runs that were the product of leaving DB's in a pool of goop after jukes.
The two TD's were him dragging several defenders. I was expecting Oaks to overwhelm with all of their talent, but really, Charbonnet is pretty much the biggest reason they are now a top-5 team in the state.

interesting loop of connection to mgoblog. thank you for the article and input. i had a few friends that played for edison back in the day (like, way back). loved the OC high school football season when i used to live in socal.

Some good players recently played there, like Jordan Zumwalt at UCLA. Everyone down there gets overshadowed by Long Beach Poly, but it’s fundamentally sound football down there.

Why only 14 carries?
August 25th, 2018 at 10:16 AM ^
They won 38-7, why would they give him more? No need to needlessly wear down your star player or risk injury if not needed.
August 25th, 2018 at 10:23 AM ^
Good point. Is this kid the top RB in the country? Feels that way.
August 25th, 2018 at 10:34 AM ^
He is A top RB. Trey Sanders from IMG is still considered top in the country. John Emery, Jerrion Ealy, and Devyn Ford are also top all around backs. But Michigan has two of the best in the country in Charbonnet and Gray

Exactly. He had broken them at that point, and was en route to 300-plus.
August 25th, 2018 at 10:23 AM ^
Because that's all he needed
August 25th, 2018 at 11:54 AM ^
Cock push-ups? 1 is all you really need.
August 25th, 2018 at 12:09 PM ^
Zach Smith might have something to say about that.

Thanks for your article and extra anecdotes. It can be really hard finding info on our commits and there performance. I really appreciated it so I could share here.

Also if you saw the Quintel Kent TD yesterday.....WOW.
If u told me he was the #1 WR in class I wouldn't doubt it for a second. All the usual caveats apply about a clip from a high school game but this isn't a 2 star.
August 25th, 2018 at 10:05 AM ^
It'll be interesting how he performs moving forward. His QB was injured near the end of the game. Don't know how serious but it could impact Kent's stats for the rest of the season.
Kent had 7 catches for 135 yards and 2 TDs

Holy cow, that's quite the stat line. Unless he's playing against atrocious competition, then he's way underrated

Mentor is a good football school in Ohio. Mitch Trubisky went there fwiw
August 25th, 2018 at 2:28 PM ^
If only you included the clip, or at least told us where we could find it.

Got to see him play last night, his school is a mile from my house. Looked like a beast and my 6 year old son screamed GO BLUE every time he touched the ball. That high school has bettter facilities than many D—1 universities and only costs $30k a year to attend!

Wandale Robinson had some sort of Reggie Bush-esque state line last night as well. I would love to see him as a Wolverine.
August 25th, 2018 at 2:06 PM ^
Seems like Robinson and Giles Jackson are both going elsewhere. Which is sad, but can't be upset with the tandem of Charbonnet and Gray
August 25th, 2018 at 12:44 PM ^
Maybe it's just iPhone formatting:
what, only 1,612 touchdowns? He couldn't hit 1,613?

Would like to see Jay Harbaugh receive the credit due from that minority portion of the fan base that feels criticism of his recruiting and/or coaching abilities is warranted. That is simply crazy talk. Jay is one of the best young coaches in college football, and if his last name wasn't Harbaugh, I suspect that would be a more widely held view.
