Friday POSBANG "What the hell do I do with my weekend?" Edition

Submitted by GoWings2008 on October 15th, 2021 at 4:06 AM

So, honey do lists shall commence, or take a weekend trip, or go to the wedding for that fan smart enough to consult the schedule before booking a reception hall.... What are you doing to pass the time?

I plan to smoke a nice brisket and watch my alma mater Air Force play Boise Saturday night and catch up on some house projects. Oh, and bang a little...

Heading to St. Pete for the weekend to push aside some bad news if only for a bit. Lots of drinking, eating and pampering with some occasional tears, I imagine. But fuck it, life is what it is. Onward.

I will be holding down the fort (taking care of kids and wife) while she recovers from surgery.  She didn't even know she scheduled it during bye week!

Bang?

Finally finishing my basement. Flooring, Drywall (fuck drywall), trim, paint. I hate to waste my weekend on it, but I have been pretty useless for the past 6 weeks.

The bye week always blows but still plenty of good games on. Becoming an Indiana fan for the weekend definitely. Smoking the brisket is cool but I have 7g of a strain called Mac Daddy OG for weekend indulgence.

This is the weekend to take the wife and kids to the cider mill and do whatever else they want so I can watch college football non stop the next 6 weekends.

Bye Week Biking (and Beers) with the local alumni club since we still like to get together and hang out even when there's no football. Basically we meet at a brewery, go for an easy ~1 hr bike ride then come back and have drinks and food together. Bonus this time is that the brewery is having their Oktoberfest celebration going on.

I finished Squid Games so now it's time to finish out Alice in Borderland. (for those of you who like Squid Games I will recommend Alice in Borderland to you).

Good weekend to close up the cottage without missing a football game.  Originally scheduled for last weekend.  Funny how things work out sometimes.

I'm sure my wife will be consumed with getting our daughter ready to move into her new apartment. I don't see any games on the TV schedule that I find particularly interesting, though I'll probably spend more time than I should watching them. I also have a craving for a great brunch at an Irish pub, so I'll probably head out to a local watering hole if the weather is nice, and maybe even if it isn't.

Speaking of wedding scheduling, can someone explain the recent phenomenon of people scheduling weddings on holidays? Seems like every wedding I've heard of from people close have been scheduled on holidays. Labor Day, Halloween, etc. Are venues cheaper on those days? Just seems so selfish to take away people's holidays to have them come to your wedding and assuming that people will be willing to give up their holiday weekend for you

I don't know about "those crazy kids today".  But i do a lot of genealogy research (many thousands of people) and i've noticed that people used to get married on holidays all the time.  At least in the 1800s.

it was incredibly popular; particularly new years, but also christmas.

Im not sure if it had anything to do with family and friends already being in town together (though most people didn't travel much back then) or whether it was just because it was a festive, celebratory time in general?

now you know something new

Taking my daughter to a pumpkin patch. Hoping to maybe get a round of golf in. Have a friends birthday to attend but they are big football fans so the birthday will have plenty of TVs. Here's to all of us getting a good bang or two this weekend!

Camping and making a pot of chili over the fire.

Speaking of weddings on open dates, when my daughter announced she was engaged and wanted an outside fall wedding I looked a the schedule and told her the only acceptable date was 30 Sep.  That was the bye week the year of her wedding.  It was a perfect fall day with a beautiful outdoor wedding.

Watch football, plus:

1. Repair our washing machine.

2. Do the laundry that has been piling up.

The washing machine always "Bangs" against the wall, does that count?
