Friday POSBANG - Army/Navy Edition

Submitted by GoWings2008 on December 9th, 2022 at 4:05 AM

Pickings are slim as the only college football on this weekend is the classic Army vs Navy game.

As an Air Force Academy graduate, I'll be watching with interest, but not too much because we've already locked up the CinC Trophy, hashtag humblebrag.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend as we look towards New Years Eve!

Time out.  Does anyone think this is a coincidence?

Specifically, Santa Ono becoming the University President?   When was his first day in office?  Did anyone note the agendas for the Regents meetings?   Yes, there’s a section of the agenda for general discussion.  Does anyone actually believe it’s “general discussion”?   Yeah, lol.. what it really is - is the equivalent of “Double Secret probation”.

What has happened, according to a confidential source, is fund an advanced research project that involves ALL academic and athletic departments at the University.  What is the objective?   Yes - signal stealing.  This group, which includes tenured professors - meets on the Diag from 3:15 to 3:45 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as home game Saturdays.

This group is leveraging dissertation work by PhD candidates, and the results seem quite obvious.  Yes, the findings of their research were on display in Columbus, and - were also applied during the men’s basketball game against Minnesota last night.  You can see the impact this is having.

I’m sorry for breaking the confidence shared with me about this.  It was too great a burden to keep quiet about.

Oh, Go Blue!

Always enjoy watching this game.  I have no dog in this fight, so I usually root for the underdog each year.  Navy is a 2.5 point favorite, so go Army.  Over/under is 32.5.

I only had one West Point officer during my time in the Infantry and despite what I had heard about them he was a pretty good dude and an even better soldier. Go Army!!

Great tradition.  I enjoy following the academies and their football traditions.

I enjoyed the game some time ago where heavily favored Navy was losing by a score to Army in sub-freezing weather (almost a windy white out.)  Navy was marching down the field to take the lead.  Thousands of Army cadets took off their coats and shirts then waved their shirts in the wind to encourage their brothers on the field.  The TV camera cut to the crowd almost continually.  The cadets were freezing and hooting and hollering at the top of their lungs while swinging their shirts in the wind.  It didn't work but that was a tremendous show of camaraderie.

As the father of a USNA grad, go Navy!

FYI, the mids weren't all that thrilled about going to the game in Philly.  They had to get up at 4:00 a.m. and get on the bus to Philly.  They had to do march on at 11:00 a.m. for the few fans in the stand and the tv cameras then go hang out in the parking lot until game time at 3:00 p.m., freezing their asses off.  BTW those long, dark overcoats they wear weigh a ton.

After the game, its back on the bus for the quiet drive back to the Yard, with most mids sleeping.
