Friday Fall, CFB, High School FB, & Robf Retirement Posbang

Mates,

Fall is most definitely here.  It is below freezing right now, crystal clear skies and nothing but sunshine expected in the forecast into next week.  And with the craziness of 2020 (it's not over yet) impacting everything, we nevertheless have a lot to look forward to:

- Early firearm season tomorrow and the grouse opener was Tuesday

-  B10 Football and, most importantly, Michigan football is back.  Not only that, but also it looks like we just might get back a couple of our previously 'opting out' draft picks

-  High school football is back.  Last night there were JV games all over and tonight, under crystal clear skies and temps 20 degrees below normal, we get the start of the varsity season.  So happy for the kids.  Mrs. XM and I will be at a game watching our 2021 son captain his team, hopefully for a season-opening victory.

- And the real reason I am posting this: Our friend robf, newly-minted listserve sheriff is about to go to his last day at work.  He has worked at his company for decades, and his father before him started in the '50's at that same company.  Our congratulations to him for the years of work and our best wishes for the good health he still has to enjoy a great retirement.

Hopefully you have a great fall weekend planned.  Share the details if you care to, but no matter what, have a wonderful Friday and Go Blue!

Thanks, XM.    Hooray for Robf.  I just turned 65 myself, but not planning to retire.

But, I live in Pensacola FL and Hurricane Sally did a number on us here.  No power, except at work for me.  I was fortunate for not much damage but many others were not.  Hoping for a quick return to AC and fridge working.  For Hurricane Ivan it took two weeks.

Go Blue! Hooray for football!

Bang bang!

Fall is my favorite time of year and is way too short.  The good part is I made it on this floating rock for one more year.  And I have a tee time tomorrow at around noon.  Supposed to be 58 degrees and not a cloud in the sky.  Perfect golf weather.

Then I have to do all 4 brake pads and rotate tires and check air pressure on the truck.

followed by FINALLY putting up the stone backsplash ... wife has been on me about it and I “forgot” for long enough.

That being said, gonna be a great weekend for some PBR and some pumpkin beer by the bonfire

Last night I had the pleasure of attending the Livonia Stevenson/Belleville Junior Varsity game at Belleville- and what a game it was.

Belleville was up 20-6 near the end of the 3rd quarter when Stevenson broke off a 50 yard touchdown to make it 20-12. Stevenson then scored again to make it 20-18 with 2:50 left. They didn't recover the onside kick and had two timeouts. Belleville had used theirs (but the scoreboard said they had one left).

Belleville goes three and out and then (for reasons I do not know) went for it on 4th and 15 at their own 40. They got stuffed. Stevenson ball with 50 seconds left. The get the ball to the 10 with 12 seconds left and 4th down. The kicker comes out, the ball is snapped and you could hear the Belleville coach yell timeout. The kick was in the air when the whistles blew and went through the uprights. The referees convene and confirm Belleville was out of timeouts and determine the kick to be good.

Stevenson wins 21-20...football is back and just as unpredictable as ever.

I just made plans for our first vacation in nine months. I'm a little apprehensive -- we're flying to NY and staying in the city for a few days so my daughter can look at schools. But we will be masked up and doing the distance dance as well as we can. A friend who lives in the city said people are taking it seriously, subways are clean, etc. Whenever I'm in New York, I usually walk at least three miles a day anyway. I'll just be happy to see something besides my town.

Amazing post, @XM, you've captured the essence of it all! Here's hoping for an amazing autumnal kick-off for XMJR tonight!

And congratulations, @Robf - you deserve a drink or three on us after the past couple months!
