Former OSU safety gives us Little Brother treatment

Submitted by eth2 on

Perhaps a case of imitation being the most sincere form of flattery, but in a locker room interview, former OSU S Kurt Coleman gives us the Little Brother treatment when asked about this year's edition of The Game.

I couldn't help but notice the grinning female reporter on the left. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts she's a Spartan grad.

Who cares what one of their punk former players think?

They're all shitheads with nothing good to say, so fuck them and everyone that supports them.

Every time you are called out for being a Walmarter, your knee-jerk is to accuse that person of being a OSU/MSU fan in disguise. That's a hell of a psychological defense mechanism you're working with there. Many people with legitimate connections to the University of Michigan think you're awful. Deal with it.

How about you get your OWN site to tell people to fuck off from? You just leach offf this one, pathetically taking ownership of it in your Twitter bio.

You're so pathetic, chubbs.

"You can't be a fan of [insert team] because you didn't go to the school associated with [insert team]." You know how fucking ridiculous that sounds? I'm definitely not dissing on UM grads, but some of us had the option to go to UM and decided not to for whatever reason. Even if we couldn't get into UM, what makes someone think that a piece of paper hanging in their office gives them the right to act like a pretentious asshat? If this way of thinking were standard among all universities, schools like OSU wouldn't have a fucking fanbase to begin with.

Michigan has one of the largest alumni bases in the country, but even with its large numbers, that accounts to only 500,000 or so people who can be "real fans." Week in and week out millions of people watch Michigan football games. Granted some of that audience is family of alumni and fans of other teams scouting Michigan, but even then, the number of "Walvie's" out there drastically outnumbers the amount of alumni and people with close connectins to alumni. It's the same deal with literally every single other college football team. If only alumni and close family were allowed to be college football fans, stuff like this blog wouldn't exist.

Also, not every fan of Michigan who didn't go to Michigan didn't go there because they were not smart enough to get in. Many people go different directions for different reasons. Some can't afford Michigan tuition, others get huge academic scholorships to other universities, some get recruited to play sports at smaller institutions, others go to a school with a specilized field of study not available at Michigan, and many are stupid enough to follow a then significant other to a different school.

This whole you can't be a fan of a team because you didn't go to school there is stupid.

It is extremely stupid but what is also is stupid is when I'm reading an article about osu twitter forgetting there is an m in from and seeing a tweet from wolverine devotee making fun of their intelligence. You don't get to do that when you didn't get into Michigan either. The being a better school argument when talking about a football game is dumb enough and pathetic enough when it comes from someone who went to the school, it's just sad when it comes from someone who didn't.

Yeah, it doesn't really work if the supposedly little brother is a better university, a more winning program, and isn't half as obsessed with the rivalry as you are.

Maybe it's time we become as obsessed with the rivalry with the same vigor as they are. Our hopes of a National Championship, unless something drastically changes, is going to come down to this game every year more often than not. It's hard to run around claiming to be the most winning program as they eat away at the W-L record and put Championship trophies on the self. LETS BEAT THESE A-holes!

I'm sure I'll get negged, but fuck I hate that "at least we're a better university" crap. Has absolutely nothing to do with the product we put on the field, and it feels so much like grasping at straws.

OSU has largely kicked the shit out of us for the better part of the last 15 years. No way around that at all. This stuff has the stink of a desperate fan base trying to hang its hat on anything it can get against its rival.

I'm no troll. I despise OSU with every fiber of my being, but can we please drop the "at least we're a better school" bullshit?

There's no reason to drop it.  It's the truth.

I mean, I think trash talk is stupid in general, but if you're going to go there, is anything more irrational than talking trash to someone from another school because your school's football team (which you are not a member of) defeated his school's (which he also isn't a member of)?

Bragging about how good your school is may be a bit petty, but at least has a grain of logic to it.

Them bringing up the past years is no different than us bringing up that we lead the series by double digits, have more championships etc.

Fans are the only ones who carry the burden of the past. The players on this team in 2016 aren't responsible for shit that happened when they were in junior high.

Tired of hearing about it. It means absolutely nothing on Saturday.
