Football Injury Updates
Was at a holiday party last night and a member of the defensive staff was there:
Mike Morris is a go for TCU
Donavan Edwards had hand surgery the day after the Purdue game, he’s expected to be a go
Corum will not be playing at all, if there was any wishful thinking

My kinda holiday party!
December 17th, 2022 at 1:41 PM ^
They played counterstrike all night
December 17th, 2022 at 1:42 PM ^
Seriously, though, why is a member of the defensive staff giving away info like this at holiday parties?
Loose lips and all.
Only thing I can think of is that these things all seemed obvious. Sam Webb was saying the same thing on the roundtable.
December 17th, 2022 at 2:25 PM ^
Sam said in his show that DE's Dad did not think they will do the surgery until the season is over. So, the defensive staff is messing around and the reverse of OP is a possibility and hoping both BC and DE are full go, but DE with a cast and he has been practicing one handed catches for 4 weeks.
December 17th, 2022 at 11:59 AM ^
We will really need Edwards. Good stuff, OP
December 17th, 2022 at 12:00 PM ^
Donavan Edwards had hand surgery the day after the Purdue game, he’s expected to be a go
That "expected" has me a bit worried. Hopefully he's fully healed and can catch some passes out of the backfield.
Thanks for providing the information!
December 17th, 2022 at 12:02 PM ^
I hope Edwards’ hand is strong enough to engage in the passing game….
December 17th, 2022 at 12:16 PM ^
many forget, he only needs one hand....
and thanks to the OP for the update.
December 17th, 2022 at 1:21 PM ^
1822, I agree.. The Don only needs one hand to throw- but, I think he’s right handed and the cast was to stabilize his right thumb.
December 17th, 2022 at 12:09 PM ^
That is interesting timing for surgery.
December 17th, 2022 at 12:18 PM ^
Why? If he was, say 70% with a cast, but you think you can get him to 100% by the playoffs...go for it.
Could also be a situation where it was healing incorrectly and needed to be fixed to prevent long term issues. Maybe they eeked out 2 weeks, but knew they had to act before it healed wrong.
December 17th, 2022 at 12:30 PM ^
Yes, all of these are possibilities. There are just a lot of variables with surgery and I would have expected them to try to wait until after the Playoff. If Edwards can’t play we are in deep shit.
December 17th, 2022 at 12:39 PM ^
Yes it seems odd.
I suppose it was not going to heal on it’s own and although maybe not a popular theme in twitterverse, likely what’s best for the player.
December 17th, 2022 at 12:57 PM ^
Hopefully worst case it hasn’t fully healed and he just has to cast it again for the Playoff.
December 17th, 2022 at 12:01 PM ^
These are my kind of updates!
December 17th, 2022 at 12:01 PM ^
I'm super bummed for Corum that he's missing this, and also bummed for us that we won't have him, but having a fully operational Edwards is so crucial, esp against a hypothetical Georgia national championship game.
December 17th, 2022 at 12:21 PM ^
Yeah, really hard not to feel devastated for Blake. He put in so many hours in the gym and film room and one freak incident knocks him out of the biggest games of his career. Sometimes sports just isn't fair.
December 17th, 2022 at 1:43 PM ^
Agree on both. They are both great backs but, as good as they are as individuals, the Corum/Edwards combination is even better than the sum of the parts. The differences in their strengths makes it particularly difficult for defenses.
December 17th, 2022 at 12:03 PM ^
So what do we do if Edwards isn’t a go?
December 17th, 2022 at 12:05 PM ^
JJ turns water into wine!
December 17th, 2022 at 12:19 PM ^
Mullings comes in as QB1 to lead our Air Raid offense. Leading receiver: Michael Barrett
December 17th, 2022 at 12:22 PM ^
Put in Saracen
December 17th, 2022 at 12:47 PM ^
He is a go.
Also, we literally saw this against Illinois.
It was Isaiah Gash and CJ Stokes.
December 17th, 2022 at 2:09 PM ^
We have orji's.
December 17th, 2022 at 12:06 PM ^
Bummed about Corum.
I was working under the assumption that Edwards' hand was healing in a protective cast, not that it would require surgery.
I don't like your update. Boo. Go to better parties.

This is probably what Edwards had:
https://www.orthovirginia.com/ulnar-collateral-ligament-repair-surgery/
I would be really surprised if he wasn't still in a splint for the playoffs. But hopefully it will be more accomodating than his cast.
December 17th, 2022 at 12:30 PM ^
Yikes! Let’s hope not…
Most wear a soft splint for the first week and then spend four to six weeks in a cast to allow the ligament to heal. Rehabilitation with a certified hand therapist helps regain strength and stability. Patients generally return to daily activities and work within a few weeks, often with a splint to avoid stressing the UCL too much. Return to sports usually takes about three to four months.

"if there was any wishful thinking"
Please use the subjunctive.
Ha! Points aren't working! I can be a grammar nazi with zero consequences! Go ahead! Negbang me! I double dog dare you!
In fact, reread my post pretending it is in all caps! Also, when I post elsewhere I use "Sharty" and "O$U."
Also, I had a nightmare last night in which we were in the CFP finals against Ohio State and we had two (I kid you not, two!) safeties and we were ahead in the first quarter 7-4. I woke in a cold sweat....
Edit: Crap! Points are now working! I apologize! I am full of contrition! /s x 3!!!!
December 17th, 2022 at 1:20 PM ^
-1 for taunting. There, take that!
December 17th, 2022 at 2:10 PM ^
+1 for following directions
December 17th, 2022 at 12:26 PM ^
Thought Sam said on the Roundtable that he had just talked to Edwards dad and he said that the surgery would be after the season. Maybe I misheard that.
December 17th, 2022 at 12:37 PM ^
You didn’t mishear, that's exactly what he said.
December 17th, 2022 at 12:34 PM ^
Hopefully the hand surgery recovery goes as planned. One positive either way is he played well with a cast so even if it's not 100% he'll still know he can perform.
Yeah, I didn't think Corum was coming back anyway so not a surprise. I know the official word around here was "so you're telling me there's a chance" but given how limited he looked before the injury even an aggressive recovery timeline felt unlikely.
December 17th, 2022 at 12:46 PM ^
Corum will not be playing at all (against TCU), if there was any wishful thinking
This was my version of wishful thinking.
December 17th, 2022 at 1:43 PM ^
+1 -- exactly what I was hoping. That he'd be back to play Georgia.
December 17th, 2022 at 12:46 PM ^
Nikhai Hill-Green also looks like he might be available.
December 17th, 2022 at 12:54 PM ^
I’ve ran this all by counter strike guy, it checks out, so you can consider this source legit.
I love that we have holiday party guy now.
December 17th, 2022 at 1:04 PM ^
Edwards surgery probably just to install a brace or pin. Doubtful this keeps him out. He's a one handed back anyway.
Definitely having Morris makes us even better against Duggan who is the kind of player like Clifford but better passer and maybe better runner.
December 17th, 2022 at 1:12 PM ^
Yes. Mike Morris might have been our most valuable defender this year. He may be just who we need against Duggan.
December 17th, 2022 at 1:08 PM ^
Should a member of the defensive staff be talking about a player's medical treatment at a party?
December 17th, 2022 at 1:12 PM ^
The answer to that would be no.
December 17th, 2022 at 1:11 PM ^
So had this coach had a few drinks at the time? It's hard for me to believe that anyone on staff was supposed to talk about things like that.
December 17th, 2022 at 3:59 PM ^
I mean if Corum and Edwards can't play (perish the thought), I would be alright with Gash or Stokes going for 200+ on the ground. Next man up
December 17th, 2022 at 5:18 PM ^
Kinda similar: I sat next to an UGA dline player on a flight this week. He promised me they’d beat the buckeyes.
December 17th, 2022 at 5:55 PM ^
For real? That’s actually pretty cool
December 17th, 2022 at 7:14 PM ^
Is there a glimmer of hope that Corum could play if they make it to the title game? It seems odd that there wasn’t official confirmation from Harbaugh or anyone within the program that Corum is done for the year?
I’m assuming he is done-zo and off to the draft to go make his money, but maybe I’m foolishly thinking there’s still a small sliver of chance he comes back for the title game if they’re fortunate enough to make it that far.
December 18th, 2022 at 7:08 AM ^
I doubt it it but like the thought process. He’s prbly focused on going healthy for the combine and most likely wouldn’t be 100%.
December 18th, 2022 at 3:10 AM ^
Sheeeeeeeeeeeeiiish. . .
December 18th, 2022 at 10:39 AM ^
The Twitter link in this article shows Corum reacting to the news that the O-Line has won the Joe Moore award. The video is from 12/17 at 2:05 pm. He appears to be in a large tent at an event for kids. He is on crutches - so not looking good.
